Wait, Jin was basing her entire plan on that?!

Yeah, awesome plan there, Jin, I'm glad you were lucky enough that it worked.

Jin may no longer immortal but she is still good at pulling just the right strings. :)

And Atsali pulls in yet another titan into her circle... Titanette? hehehe

Devyn, girl, I can't understand why you were so scared to talk to Atsali!

Good at pulling strings, my Aunt Fanny!

What would have happened if Devin had been--for example--in the bathroom when Snooty McSnoot-Snoot came over to harass Atsali? And Devyn was only nearby out of pure chance in the first place.

It was a terrible plan, and it had no reason to work properly at all.

Except that this is a fictional universe where things happen to make a good story, not because they are plausible for any other reason.

ETA: I have some experience dealing with being a character in a fictional universe. Now about that rewrite I asked for, now that the one pound tumor is removed from my neck that pathology report is going to be all fat and blood vessels, right. And no more trucks hitting me, that shit's getting repetitive, especially after the third one.

After 80,000 years of trying out various plans and schemes, running through variations of the same idea in multiple time loops, successfully manipulating mortals and Immortals and paranormals, I rather suspect that Jin would have been ready for such an eventuality if it occurred.

She's savvy and tricky enough that she'd have had at least one (and probably several) layers of backup strategy in place. to get this general sort of point across in one or another effective way. As it was, neither she nor Bud nor Monica had to act directly... but they were all there "on deck" (literally and metaphorically).

Jin is a mistress of the Xanatos Gambit.

Or even Xanatos Speed Chess.

And it can't be a terrible plan - not even a Bad Plan, because she didn't lose her hat.

Hot Damn!! Knew I liked her after yesterdays page!

And Poseidon's niece? Ha! Told ya'll I sensed her morphing into a main character yesterday! Poseidon's Niece is so not a one off type character.

Also, so would her last name be Poseidon? Or Jackson? lololol, PJ reference!

If phase one had not worked then i am sure all Jin would have to do is let Derringer Devyn "overhear" that Stali was being thrown out because of her bathing suit, mission accomplished. Several ways this could have played out all of them would have worked. So it turns out that instead of just a tiny derringer that was a ball of antimatter, or in her case niecematter. Either way bigga boom.

Oh i also notice there is a second entry for todays comic that needs to be deleted i guess. Can it still be deleted since its been up so long now that someone has replied to it?

Except this was a Batman Gambit. It hinged on knowing how Devyn would react.

Okay, if Devyn is an actual niece of the actual Poseidon--and assuming that Classical Greek Mythology is a canonical source for the Wapsiverse--we have a bit of a puzzler.

Poseidon had no wife, but had an official consort, Amphitrite. If Poseidon is Devyn's uncle by "marriage" then she is the daughter of Amphitrite's sister Perse and her husband Helios (a Sun God). Myth records their children as Aeetes, Perses, Pasiphae, and Circe...yes, that Circe. (BTW, like almost all the Greek Gods, Poseidon slept around a lot, and had at least 80 lovers and half again as many offspring.)

If Poseidon is Devyn's uncle by blood, that means she's the offspring of one (or two!) of his siblings--Zeus, Hera, Hestia, Demeter, and Hades. None of these are recorded as "Devyn" which is not terribly surprising, as the name is either Gaelic or Old French. If Gaelic, the name means "bard" or "poet". If French, then name means either "divine" (in the god-like sense) or a diviner (in the soothsayer sense).

In any event, she does not seem to be anyone recorded in Classical Mythology, and the nature of her paranormality could be practically anything, from nymph to naga.

Perhaps being a sales rep for Acme Corporation does not suit you!

Technically Atsali Is showing more cm^2 of skin...
Her legs, because she's fricken' tall.

???

Maybe that's what the Mer-people have a problem with!
"Put some pants on, girl! You're in public!"

Oh wait... No... It's her curves, as stated in a previous installment.

Well, there's skin, and then there's skin...

... as well as constants of proportionality.

It's not being a sales rep that's a problem. It's being a customer.

One of the moderators could probably delete it.

Or, if Akamar was to delete that response (and then re-post it here), there'd be only the initial posting by Thor remaining, and Thor could delete that, which would delete the whole thread.

That's assuming the Devyn card was the only one she was prepared to play. This IS Jin we're speaking of. I wager she had at least three game plans before resorting to siccing Monica on the lil frog.

A tad preachy, but I find this more favorable than some of the offered options people thought up. Still, Don't Shoot the Messenger and all that.

I'd argue with her on that last comment in the first panel, of course, but that's mainly because of where they're located. We discussed that in the other thread, we're prudes in the US.

Which begs the question, what was Xanatos's gain if the curse didn't break? That's one hell of an expensive marketing stunt otherwise. And I'd imagine it made a few of his investors a bit uneasy.

I don't know ... but should not Poseidon be one of those elder gods that everyone is trying to keep out? I guess he kept his nose clean and is allowed in. Also, given that Atsali and Cassi are adopted and consider themselves to be related to everyone involved as if they were blood, perhaps this girl is the same way with Poseidon. Whatever the case, slimy French guy should slink off while the slinking's good. I guess he's a paranormal. The question remains, however. is he part frog or part snail? Ok, ok, sorry to you French folk out there for being stereotypical, but someone had to say it.

Oh, and this may not have been part of Jin's plan at all. She may be just going with the flow of a fortuitous event. Seems hard to reconcile her hesitation and nervious behavior with Atsali with her unloading on Monsieur Snootmiester though.
