Yeah... They can even have a tall, skinny dark-haired femme fatale to serve, too! :P

You know, there is a law against yelling "fire" in a crowded theater, unless there really is one, to avoid creating panic and subsequent pandemonium... Maybe there ought to be a law against mentioning "moose" in the forum... :P

Given the motley crew of delinquents, reprobates, punsters, deviants and other forms of trouble that this forum attracts- you should be surprised?

It's ok. Here, have some moose, er, mousse.

For some reason I can't get the thought out of my head that the plural of moose should be meese.

Hey! I resemble that remark!
Whoever coined the phrase "more fun than a barrel of monkeys" obviously never spent an afternoon cramming the little buggers into one.

It may be that Jacob was always intended to be a bit character. A throwaway. It's possible he's served his purpose in the plot and now he's gone.
What purpose?
I'd guess he was created to help illustrate Atsali's entrance into womanhood. Now that we all know Atsali is capable of having adult thoughts and feelings and... Whatnot... Jacob's being Put on a Bus.
Well, he's still one of Atsali's schoolmates, his sister is a friend of Nadette's, and now it looks like he has a connection with Jessie. I somehow doubt that he's going to disappear into the void.
Julie wrote:Nadette better reign her happy in hard. At some point, it has to occur to Atsali that she's a seer and should have seen that Jacob was interested in a guy...which would lead her to ask why Nadette allowed her to put herself out there by asking him out when it would hurt to get rejected this way. I mean, the little siren has been a bit clueless about these things so far, but that can't last forever. :( It also makes me like Nadette a little less knowing that she's playing this hand to her own benefit...even if she "knows" Atsali will end up happy, it's a bit self-serving and I don't like that behavior from someone who calls herself a friend.
While thinking about Nadette the seer and Nadette the manipulator and Nadette the infatuated, remember that she's also Nadette the 16ish-year-old kid. She'd probably just as much in a confused muddle about life as is Atsali or Cricket, trying to figure out who she is and what she's doing.
Oh...and hi everyone! :) Long time no see!

Akeche wrote:I understand with it being a comic, a web comic at that, we're restricted a little on what might be shown. But I would have liked to see the actual conversation. It just seems like something a tad more important than to be simply spoken as if it's an aside during Atsali and Nadette's chat.
We might end up seeing it in a flashback at some point?
And this way we get to learn about it from the same perspective as Nadette's own. Though perhaps not with the Nadette's same reaction. . .

Or "badger", "salt", "airplane", "talcum", or any other such provocative words.

I'm not certain that even a policy of "nobody speaks, nobody moves, everybody just sits quietly" would be enough to suppress the occasional cascade of free dissociation.

Split pea soup[/b]]viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2053

Lets take off-topic off the topic...

(edit- Thx to FPF; as I type this addendum I am bouncing back and forth between two Wapsi tabs in my browser, cloning two blank systems here in the Student Computer Lab, and downloading [in the background] TV episodes I missed on first broadcast this month of April...)

It might all make (some) sense in a little bit...

I hope it's that simple and goes down that easily in the end with Atsali...but teenagers, so probably not.

So there was some kind of computer security and penetration hacking conference recently, and the hotel that hosted the attendees has iMacs in all the rooms. They had webcams.
Several people unplugged the computers.
Several people turned the monitors to face the wall.
Several people threw towels over their monitors.

And several people apparently did all three. Hackers are scary, man. My stepbrother can literally set your computer on fire over the Internet (by overclocking the processor).
