Just a bit of a delayed reaction there.

Also, "sugar cube"? Your bronyness is showing, Paul. ;)

Bathorysdaughter called it yesterday. M is never going to see Phix the same way again. I don't think she'll ever want to be alone with Phix again. She also now has an idea why Shelly was so worried about losing control.

I can't say I have seen a good friend eating someone whole, but I have had "one of those days" when a good scream was an appropriate reaction. The most recent one was when someone almost killed me because I was "in the way" and they couldn't figure out how to pass my bike until the intersection and the red light, where they got it wrong and passed on the right with -1" to spare (that's a negative clearance). I bounced off the truck waiting in the left turn lane, bounced off the truck that was passing me on the right, the truck on the left again, and finally one last time off the truck on the right. By some miracle I managed to not fall down and go under the tires. When I had my wits back together I screamed for about 90 seconds at the driver that this was not some $0.02 country where you just pass people anywhere you felt like it, that we were in Texas where you pass even bicycles on the left, and that you don't run into people just because they are riding a bike and in front of you. I kept this up at about 100 dB for the full 90 seconds it took for the light to change.

And that was the most recent time I felt like screaming. I know how M feels.
I ride my bike to ride my bike, and sometimes it takes me where I need to go.

It may be more than just Phix and Shelly, specifically.

Monica may just have realized at a deep emotional level (not just intellectually) how truly dangerous is, well, pretty much everything and everyone in her life and world these days. She's probably feeling more unsure and unsafe than she has since the day she was stabbed in the head by her friends... same problem, basically, but raised to a whole new level. She's playing in a very deep and violent game... the gods are no longer just myths and legends, but real players and possible enemies, and her allies and friends are scarcely less of a potential threat.

If I were her, I wouldn't just want a little quiet lie-down. I'd want to lock myself into a very robust saferoom, and quiver quietly to myself for about a week.

If you think about it Monica has been building up for this a long time. From being stabbed during the calander incident, to be shot at, being turned to stone, facts about Shelx, and many other things. If anyone has a right to loose it Monica does. While Phix finally triggered it I expect this is the result of what she has gone through the last few years. Little bits slowly piling on top of her and she never found a way to completely come to terms with it all. After all who among everyone can she really talk to?
Tina- a demon group who has warned Monica she can't be trusted.
Amanda - Only a bit player ont he side lines. While Monica shares with her she can't really talk.
Shelly - She has problems of her own.
Katherine- Five minutes and Kath would run screaming down the hall.
Jin - Monica doesn't trust her enough.
Brandi and Bud - Same reason. Especially Brandi.
Monica's Parents - Only if she wants to end up back in the funny farm.
The god of beer - (Sorry forgot his name) Only if she wants to get loaded.
Dietzel - Good listener but it's a bit tough for him to steer the conversation and help monica cope.
Kevin - He'll listen but even he has no idea how to help her cope and deal with the issue's.
Phix - Not right now and maybe never after this.
Nudge- She's helping Shelly right now and I doubt Monica would trust her enough.
Paul - He isn't talking. Besides Paul has never broken the fourth wall so far.
The bartender - Been so long I forgot his name too. He's not even in the loop so he could help but it would take a whole lot of explaining about things he doesn't need to know.

So this has all built up on Monica slowly and finally delayed stress kicked in. I'm just glad she didn't panic poit home and go to huddlling under her bed.

Euryale referred to her as Sugar three times yesterday. So she's good at math.

Still, maybe everyone could stop referring to Monica AS. FOOD.

Good point. Even worse, she's being called a food topping. Not good to put ideas into Phix's head right now.

Technically, Mon was turned to ice. Twice, for that matter.

Nitpicking aside, I have to agree: Since she's already screaming, all we need is the running-away-whilst-pulling-out-hair & the breakdown shall be complete. If she's still lucid & rational at the end of this week, she's made of tougher stuff than most people. Well, me, at least.

That's one thing I have never gotten about this "vore" thing. Like here, her prey is about as large as she is. Where is she putting it? Maybe she has an expando-stomach, still it seems like a bit much. Maybe she'll go back to it for the next few days. And is she going to cough up a massive hairball afterwards? Will she put the bones up for soup or gnawing later on? How about pickling some of the organs? Sick, sick questions.

Also, I think she should have poited out of there before screaming. Disturbing the feasting lioness is not good. No sir, not good at all.
