Okay... Atsali's plan definitely doesn't sit well with Nadette... but at least they're doing okay so far...
You know that light at the end of the tunnel?

I agree, giving children detailed instructions on how to build nuclear weapons can not be good. Giving modern man access to the information in that cave also not good.

Of course it doesn't sit well. They are taking that Stone Tape history for granite!

Sali is right though. The Ethians knowledge should not be discovered. Look how badly it was used in the past and we are certainly not any wiser now. More technical but not wiser.

But what sent the signal?

Ambush questions are fun. Watching the mental impact of them as they distort, or crumble, opinions based on faulty logic.

Is that Nadette's "I did not see this coming" look?

And as far as "information to children" is concerned I was given detailed instructions on how to build a turbojet engine when I was 9. What I wasn't given was access to the tools and materials needed to actually do that. And you know what? I still can't build a turbojet engine, unless you count the centrifugal monstrosity that uses a cast off turbocharger as the turbine and compressor, because I still remember how to build the combustion chamber and I have a welder and a cutting torch...

I've seen much speculation recently that the Library's doing what's best for everyone on account of having future knowledge through its books. After all, it has every book that was ever written, and ever will be (like Atsali's young adult novels), right? What I want to know is where the idea that the Library is omniscient came from, because it's just not so:
http://wapsisquare.com/comic/took-liber ... ment-25431 *
To quote:
Makattack: "Here’s a question: It [the Library] has every text that WAS and IS written. does it contain everything that WILL be written, also?"
Paul Taylor: "Nope, just the writing that has been."

*Spent all day looking for that needle in the haystack, I'm quite proud I found it. 8-)

Maybe this is what the Library has in mind. After sorting through the Atsali Download, It might have decided to assemble an erasure team to keep some knowledge unknowable.

Stone tape? Sounds like a Millenniata product.

heh ... my first though was "That's why the Library wanted to keep Thymbris (and Tsillah) from getting back. Together they probably could cause the amount of destruction Atsali needs"

Of course, Atsali will probably now go find, or Macgiver, a self destruct mechanism of some kind.

:?:

Wait a minute!

Completely off topic, but what are the chances that, in the Waspiverse, Angus MacGyver was an Incubus? :?:

I think so.

I suspect that as a seer, Nadette *might* have an insight into things equivalent to reading the last few pages of a story, but have no idea about any 'plot twists' (or plot that isn't the last few pages).

Right now, Nadette is trying to work out how her current events have anything to do with what she knows will happen at the end.

Maybe :?:

There is a very good chance I am very wrong :P

speculation if fun

Nadette sees knowledge to be preserved.

Atsali knows that the high emotion event or turmoil that created the stone tape would have been the death of the civilization, something no one wants or should experience. She felt it when they were running through her head, so she knows.

Bird brains process information faster than bear brains?

Atsali really does seem to think faster than most around her (though she's prone to extrapolating pretty far on the basis of incomplete or flat erroneous information).

She also has more knowledge about the background here than Nadette.

Question: Are her basic assumptions valid or not?
