Get In The Car 2015-01-09

Grandma knows best... or not.

Lily's "senior moment".

Nice LTD. Wonder if it's souped up like Mr. J and Mr. K's.

By the way: the location of Chino Latino from yesterday:

I think she was using every Lanthian, Etethetian, Mayan, Spanish, English and Minnesoootan cuss word she could come up with.

You would think she would have learned by now, but maybe it's one of those things you learn and then have to re-learn every couple of centuries...

Yup. That's probably why the strip was a bit late to post, today. Paul had some customized lettering to do. :D

I guess this answers my question of the day before yesterday. Lily is, indeed, old enough and far enough detached from having been a teen, that she didn't remember how they react

I wonder who is in the car with Lily? It could be Suzi... but I'm not sure. The MiB would certainly go to Katherine before approaching Atsali... wouldn't they? The line of reasoning coming from the unseen other person sounds like the reasoning of a mother who is on the fast track of learning about teen age kids herself... Someone who would know that you never EVER tell a teen what not to do... unless you wanted to make sure they did just that.
You know that light at the end of the tunnel?

Yeah... it's a bullet. Sorry.

Nicely done... the street view you linked to includes the "Parking" sign visible behind 'Sali in yesterday's second panel.

Gotta love the car.

Yesterdays strip should have been for today. That one truly was a cliff hanger! Or a cliff faller if you choose.

Lily can be forgiven. After all how often has she had to deal with teenagers? I bet she chose to avoid them as much as she could like any intelligent adult would.

As to fixing it good luck. Can they contact the library quick enough to get the gates shut down. Luckily there is not a direct gate there. Now we hope th elibrary transport system is set to keep people out of there and it should be.
Ambush questions are fun. Watching the mental impact of them as they distort, or crumble, opinions based on faulty logic.

Have you read larry niven?? 'A hole in space' and others has teleport tech, where any 'overloading' causes the traveller to be shunted to a holding space...

eg for the library.... :)

Is that a 1983? It must have special features. MIB surely has the budget.

Once did a ripping 10-day trip to Big Bend, then up through Los Alamos and Santa Fe to Colorado, and back through Kansas, with my ex in her similarly styled 1981 Ford Fairmon (the ultimate t was broken off the cheap plastic badge). It was fun, but the LTD Crown Vic was for sure a better vehicle. And those early-80s pre-CPU carbureted engines were a big pain in the ass by the mid-90s.

Ford produced the LTD Crown Victoria 1983-91. The vehicle used in MiB (1997) was, by most online sources, a 1987. (An eBay listing is for an '86 "used in filming"... entirely possible as there were minimal styling changes between those model years.)

During 'Flash Mobs', times when the influx of people teleporting into a given area exceeds a certain ratio, the system was set to automatically route inbound to a holding and processing area.
Usually this was a sports stadium.
State yer business, show some ID, likely as not you get released. maybe...

Niven thought out most of his universe pretty well, the rules of inherent redundant safety in the Teleportation System is a good example. (Of course the Puppeteers had a lot to do with that...) <--- sneeeeky bastards, scaredy-cats, but sneaky...

Thanks; I wondered about that. How did you find it? I wasn't going to wander around Minneapolis looking. Oh! It turns out Chino Latino exists in our world's Minneapolis, too; I hadn't even thought of that.

Notice that it's less than a block from the intersection of Lake & Hennepin, seen here a while back, and just past that is Stella's Fish Cafe.
