For what it's worth, someone shrunk to insect size would be significantly stronger than the insect.

Not sure about that... the square/cube relationship works out very well for insects and other small beasties. Many of them are proportionally much stronger than we are (e.g. can carry several times their own body weight easily, can jump to several times their height, etc.)Atomic wrote:For what it's worth, someone shrunk to insect size would be significantly stronger than the insect.

Of course, what you say could be correct, depending on the magical mechanism of size reduction.
And, of course, on the nature of the wee beastie, of course.
EDIT: You can tell that Calista is young. She hasn't yet learned that rhetorically asking "How (adjective) could it be?" is almost always an invitation for the Universe to deal you a joker in your next hand!

Poor Dietzel! He deserves a day sitting in front of the Weather Channel with an all-meat pizza after this.

OK, insects instictively like fae. Or maybe it is just spiders.
Of course the Library has spiders. They feed on the bookworms.

I used to have a pet spider, wife hates them. However if i saw one come up half my size i would be moving on down the road. Would be a mickey sized hole in the wall, they are carnivores.

Obviously spidey is blissfully unaware of the Fae choice in comfort food. Though the one she had in the cafeteria was many times larger than this one. Probably some variety they raise like we raise cattle. OTOH, why would they raise spiders that huge when their normal size is only a few inches? Maybe she just made it look big for the sake of scale. In reality it may have been smaller than the purrrfect little specimen we see here. Of course, in the Library it could be someone's pet. Another Fae could come out at any moment with a leash.

Castela called the spider "a sweet little bear". Could it actually be one of the ursa sisters?

daaawwww, spiders need love too... they could well be 'pets' to the fae... and I still wonder at the diversity and sizes of spiders.. from the size of your head to only about a milimeter!!

Sorry, but the image of a spider with eyebrows is cracking me up.
Under normal circumstances, maybe not. In this case, however, the arachnid in question is almost as big as he is; that would inspire a phobia in the most stalwart of canines, I'm sure.AnotherFairportfan wrote:Oops - Dietzel's an arachnophobe?

Dunno if they are eyebrows or not, but this little guy might be on of these: http://macrojunkie.deviantart.com/art/j ... -126124488

Eyebrows? How about squeeing and purring? If that spider has a larynx, perhaps it is a (shape changing?) bear?
... or perhaps it's just a joke.

Doubt it.My2Cents wrote:Castela called the spider "a sweet little bear". Could it actually be one of the ursa sisters?
The way the spider is drawn, it's likely to be a jumping spider. And out of all the spiders that I've run into Jumpers are the ones with the most personality. Other spiders ignore you, some actively skitter away, but Jumpers are the sort who'll see you and take the time to figure you out. I've had them in my house and I let them roam as they will. Usually I'll see one of them on the floor and I'll play with them using my laser pointer.
They're very personable and the easiest to handle next to the larger tarantulas.

I wonder if this is one of Kathy's? She is the Spider women of mythology right?

Ambush questions are fun. Watching the mental impact of them as they distort, or crumble, opinions based on faulty logic.
