I think a couple of bear twins need to have a talk with Miss Gotlieb about manners.

Is the instructor a shark lady!? 'Cause I'm getting an 'eat your head' vibe here....

She's a gym teacher. They get special training for that.
You should be reading the Wapsi Square Wiki.

I hope Mrs. Adler is a cephalomorph, like Ursula from The Little Mermaid.
Also:
"What do you ladies think you're doing?"
"We swam a lap, ma'am."
"No, no. None of that 'zipping around the pool like a water creature' crap! Arms and legs, ladies, like a human! Now!"
"Awww..."

I don't know or care what species of paranormal she is, that teacher just made my awesome list. Paying attention to bullies and calling them on it will get you on that list, which is like the back of Sydney Scoville, Jr.'s List, a not-bad place to be.

I like the teacher.
She doesn't spread such nonsense -- she doesn't tolerate it!
Perhaps she's a mermaid and already knows better?

Could be. The ability to sense disturbance from a great distance is a sharkly attribute. Either that, or she's got really excellent hearing.NOTDilbert wrote:Is the instructor a shark lady!? 'Cause I'm getting an 'eat your head' vibe here....
She does remind me of at least one or two school coaches I've known. Brusque, no-nonsense, and they've seen all the teen-age hijinx before and aren't even slightly impressed by them.
Re: Do A Lap 2013-12-16
Is there a natural competition between Mermaids and Sirens?
I would think the stories say they do pretty much the same thing:
a) Look pretty.
b) Kill seamen.
(But Mermaids get the Disney movie whitewash so those stories are forgotten.)

I think I had this PE teacher at My High school. Seriously, good job teach, one person in class screws up, EVERYBODY PAYS. Do ya think Gilchrist and Gotlieb will become buds after this?
Re: Do A Lap 2013-12-16
So the class is not so much about learning to swim as it is about learning to fully maintain their human for while swimming. Given the examples the teachers used I suspect all the girls in the class are para-normals who associated with water. Sirens, mermaids, Naiads, and the like. Given the example the teacher used I bet Ms. Gotlieb is a mermaid. The PE coach using that type of control would have aimed her remark at the person she was trying to shut up by saying bad gossip about their type just after they said it about someone else. Like don't spread stupid rumors like this one that could be said about you.
This also implies that sirens are water based paras. This makes me wonder about her father. Her bird form is clearly not a water type.

Ok, so, is everyone else loving that Atsali seems to of become such a main character lately? I wasn't sure on her at first, but the more I've seen the more I like her. Hope she doesn't vanish for months at a time like some characters. Ah the perils of a freaking huge cast.
Re: Do A Lap 2013-12-16
It's true. In panel 1 the water magnifies the images you see through it. Sali's flotation devices seem actually much larger than before. But strangely only they seem to be enlarged as her hair is smaller.

The hair is wet, so decreased volume follows.

I have long suspected the Miami firefighters to be nymphs.
You do not want to mess with a classical nymph, like you do not want to mess with a Norse elf.
I would not at all be surprised if "Mrs Adler" was in charge of a local tributary of the Mississippi...

With the students' current attitude, would that make her a seal of disapproval?Akamar wrote:Hm.. perhaps Ms. Adler is a selkie?
