Kath wanted an adventure. I think it's about to start.

Oh.

My.

Stars.

And.

Garters.

I hope that everyone is standing by, just off panel, to deal with the effects of Hurricane Katharine that they just created.

I do hope that Tsilla is "pulling a Nudge" here. The clumsiness of her approach to Katharine in these last couple pages seems uncharacteristically ham-handed for her.

The chess game is over, and all the pieces are put away.

But the board abides.

Oh Fidgen, Kats is rather pretty when she's fired up like that.

Don't make Kath angry.

Ask any squirrels around her rooftop garden what happens if you make her angry.

Kath is pissed. First she is jerked around like a puppet by the Library and others, then her partner is torn away from her in the middle of a conversation - which is rude at the very least. I think the Library is about to be schooled...

I also think Sali's middle name might be Bia. For all her impulsiveness, I like the little siren, and would hate to see her go.

And thus comes the Friday cliffhanger, to gnaw our vitals this weekend like the eagle eating wossname's liver every day...

"Liver, again?"

"Can't we have. like, kidneys, once or twice?"

I'm getting the distinct impression that the Nu Gui isn't the only player this month which has a hole where its heart ought to be. Jeez, that was a cold move the Library just pulled. "Throwaway" is exactly how Atsali was treated... not a hint of the thanks, egoboo, and come-on-board that Atsali just ladled out for Katherine... just a quick teleport back to the lonelyplace.

Now, it's possible that this is yet another manipulative game on somebody's part, to test Katherine and see if she's a caring enough individual to be trusted with power... and if so I certainly think she passed. I don't think we've ever seen her cry before.

On the other hand, the Library (or someone else) may just be exercising their Gods-and-Goddesses-given right to be an utter ass... in which case, I hope Katherine's status gives her some sort of handle with which to ream somebody a new whatever.

This is seeming more and more like a "Nudge" event. Here are 3 reasons:

1) Tsilla is not being her usual friendly self but she is being pushy. (Fairportfan used the perfect word "ham-handed")
2) Tsilla has been horribly cavalier about everything that happened so far, sort of like she was when Monica zapped Nudge into the volcano.
3) The Library pulled that one at a perfect rude and obvious moment to set Kath off hardcore.

I'm having trouble figuring out which order the panels should read. Can someone help me out?

Also, am I the only one a bit confused by it? I usually don't have this problem.

It could read acceptably in either of two ways:

top left, top right, middle left, bottom left, and then across to the right, or

top left, middle left, top right, then jump down to the bottom left and go across the row.

I think the first is probably correct, but it wasn't obvious to me either on first reading.

Carmine Infantino used to draw arrows leading the reader in the correct reading order if he used an unusual page layout in The Flash.

Of course, in those days the rectangular four- nine- or twelve-panel grid was the default that was not often departed from.

AHA!

Just re-read this: http://wapsisquare.com/comic/catch-up-shortly/

The Library did not clean out Atsali's head in transit - Lily routed them through another stargate with a buffer crystal - and THAT's where the computer and the data were removed. Lily and Suzie are probably fetching it now.

Quite a bargaining chip, if they play it right.... ;)

I suspect the other player is Phix and Kathy is now being tested to see if she is strong enough, and cares enough, to adopt Sali. Phix can be hard when testing people, remember how she first greeted Kathy to the library? I bet the requirements to adopt an immortal are quiet a bit more stringent. This is an excellent way to see how determined Kathy is.
