A bit of DIY audiophilia

Post by Dave »

Just to start things off... here's a link to a page I wrote up some years ago, showing off a set of three-way loudspeakers I built.

Still happy with them, after all these years.

I used to build stereo speakers and install sound systems in restaurants. The speakers were big towers with two 10" woofers, a 4 1/2" midrange and two piezoelectric tweeters. We really over built them, so that restaurant personnel couldn't blow them up. We once tested one by plugging it into a wall outlet, it just hummed at 60 Hz, really loud! lol
It didn't blow up!

I still have a pair, but they are really big and they're in the garage.

My current stereo system is a Harman/Kardon AVR 100 with Polk audio satellite speakers and some old Infinity speakers as sub-woofers, driven by an old Phase Linear Model 400 series two amplifier. Its not cutting edge by a long shot, but it sounds real nice.
