Ran across this one in a printed collection of Instructables I checked out from the city library on a whim, and couldn't help thinking that there might be somebody crazy enough hereabouts to think about trying it.

Seems like it might be kinda tame, compared to a nice fruity habanero cordial, but it's probably easier to make.

If it's too tame, infuse some cayenne (crushed rather than ground) with the candies, then filter to remove the pepper flakes with the wax - unless a stray pepper flake at the back of the throat sound like a good jest (It's not - might induce some fire breathing, or at least turn the air blue). I used to make several liqueurs when I was in the Brewer's Guild in the SCA, but not cinnamon whiskey - I made cherry kirschvasser, glacial horilka (lemon), coffee liqueur, orange liqueur, and a batch or two of prickly pear liqueur - never got that last one to my satisfaction, though, kept turning out too watery in texture - flavor was good, though. Also made lotsa mead....sigh. Happy memories.

Helpful tip of the day: monkeys and the fermenting of pumpkin wine do not join together harmoniously.

The recipe sounds like it would taste okay. But personally, I would think that buying a bottle of Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey would be much easier and possibly have a much similar taste. (Note; Fireball is an excellent warmer-upper when you're having to run the snow-blower through 2 feet of snow in February.)

Even in February, I was unaware that Arizona could get 2 feet of snow. ;)

Oh, indeed we can. The elevation where I live is what makes the difference. My house sits right at 6900 ft elevation. This last Winter wasn't too bad, I only had to run the snow-blower a couple of times. I think our biggest single storm dropped a little over a foot of snow, but that was on top of some from previous storms ... but it wasn't too bad. Here's a couple of photos (on my deviantArt page). The first one was May 2008 and was in my front yard. The second one was in 2006 and was taken at a lake just outside of town.;
