Posting in comments on website

Is there some secret to getting your posts to appear in the comments section of the website? I didn't register on the forum as I thought the few times I wanted to comment, I could do so in the comments under the comic page. However I just noticed that my comments never appear, and I can't find anything about having to do anything with respect to getting posting permission. Am I missing something here? My apologies if this has been addressed, I did a quick look around on the forum to see if this has been asked before, but didn't notice anything.

I think one or two people have had that problem before... I'm not sure what it turned out to be. It's almost certainly not related to the forum per se, as they're handled by different software packages.

I'd suggest that you make sure that you're entering a reasonably valid name, and a valid email address when you try to post to the comments section.

Don't put in web URLs at all, and (I think) avoid the use of BBCode. These might trigger a "possible spammer posting" guard in the forum software.

You might want to try posting from a different network. It's possible that some IP address ranges, and/or some email domains are tagged as "problematic" due to spamming problems. Using any sort of "freemail" address (e.g. @shoutingyodel.com or the like) might be a problem - domains that don't validate their users well, are popular with spammers.

Make sure you have cookies enabled when you're on the main site - I believe WordPress uses them for some amount of user tracking, and if your browser or proxy strips 'em off it might interfere with the posting process. Consider "whitelisting" the wapsisquare.com domain in whatever browser-security software you may be using.

Oh... you should definitely make puns. My first posting ever to the comment section was a pun, it was accepted instantly and I've never had a lick of trouble posting since then. Clearly the Comments software has a rare and exquisite sense of humor.

If you're using NoScript or other ad-blockers, your cookie for Gravitar might be disabled, or the cookie that the site comments section uses. I had that problem in the past where I could post, but after leaving the site and returning, it was gone. Enabling the cookies and refreshing made it visible.

That has happened on other sites using FaceBook for sign-in. No cookie, no comment visibility.

YMMV

As an aside, I much prefer a separate (or at least somewhat-separate) forum to under-the-comic-page comments. In the latter, it's very difficult to have any sort of ongoing discussion.

I've seen discussion of a single comic page remain quite active for over a month, past a dozen or more later updates.

Let alone any non-page-specific discussions. Or fanfics. Or...

Hmm, as far as I know, I am meeting the conditions listed. I will try posting from a different location and see if that makes any difference. Thanks for the feedback.
