I am off this next week, and should the planets align, I may attempt to make a drive over to the TC area. This time, it'll be to visit the Boiler Room Cafe, and take a swing over to Minnetonka on Wayzata Boulevard.

I might be tempted to go visit a new restaurant called Cerberus. The first time I laid eyes on it, I thought of Wapsi's Cerberus Club.

I think it also happened to replace the restaurant where my mom and dad had their first date, so that's a bonus.

Okay, a little game-planning suggests that the visit to Minnetonka might be a bit out of range (and I hear a huge "AWWWWWW" coming from certain quarters of this message board).

BUT: I may still take a drive into the TC and take some pics of that one little place we had so much fun with back in December...

I hate special weather statements.

It is supposed to be incredibly windy today between here and the Twin Cities. I don't think I am going to make the drive over because of this.

Sorry, kids. Maybe next month. :(

So.

Tomorrow, July 25th, it is supposed to be Mostly Sunny and Pleasant, with a high around 87°F (30.5°C), though it'll feel like 90°F (32.2°C). Maybe a bit windy, with it clouding up as the day goes on.

And, as it just so happens, I'm (FINALLY) off on vacation.

Hmmm.

You know, I don't have any action shots of the Pillsbury. And I'd love to go to the Boiler Room Cafe. I don't know about the Galleria of Edina, though. Might have to check out that one door on that old hospital building. Or maybe that other door behind that one restaurant.

Photos to be forthcoming whence I get home. I've got some photos to take first back over by Pillsbury.

Part 2:

Hmmm, where have we seen this before?
Image

Yep, it's the original Annex Door attached to the Historic Abbott Apartments:
Image

Sorry, no trespassing, though. (The door was locked. It's only openable with a key fob by tenants.)
Image

This is the alleyway behind Chino Latino's. The restaurant has painted a huge mural on the back of the building where they are located.
Image

And here's the Lunds & Byerlys Caribou Coffee where Jacob and Randi worked. (I didn't have the guts to ask the baristas about the strip at all...)

Part Three:

Does this look familiar? It should - it's been in the background of quite a few WS strips. That's downtown Minneapolis with the Center Avenue Bridge on the right. This is taken along Main Street SE on the St. Anthony's side of the river.

A view of the PIllsbury A-Mill Lofts complex, in front of the Xcel Energy St. Anthony's Falls Substation:

Some idiot got in the way of me taking a picture of the Pillsbury.

Part Four:

These photos aren't very interesting.
Image

Nope, not at all.
Image

I mean, no one cares about a park in Minnetonka, right?
Image

And a grove of trees, right up against the I-494 right of way - who cares, right?
Image

And really, a basketball court?

Am I right in guessing that the city riverscape is not far from this?

Actually, that photo of the bridge has appeared a couple of times in the past...

...Just outside a certain coffee shop.

I am on vacation again this week. Wife and I are planning on going over to IKEA Twin Cities. I'll be on the lookout for Bud; I hear she needs a replacement for the lamp she bought several years ago...

Someone tell Katherine:

Buca di Beppo has a Groupon deal, $20 for $10!

Granted, this one's for Appleton, but I'd guess there's a similar one for the Twin Cities...

Hoping all are well with the odd weather systems blowing through the nation this week.

It's in the high thirties right now. We're good.

We've had fog, rain, and unseasonable warmth the past few days. We even took a canoe out yesterday. About as good as it gets for a nor'easter.

Stay safe. Stupid storm systems swirling about the US give me an unsettled feeling.

UPDATE TIME!

No, I am not in the Twin Cities. I am in wonderful warm Apache Junction, Arizona.

If you all recall from Sarge's magnum opus about the Wedding of Phix, I ended up in a portal located here, inside an In 'n Out Burger.

I had lunch yesterday at said In 'n Out Burger, located on Signal Butte Road. I didn't see any weird mythological creatures come out of the bathroom, thankfully.

I have not as of yet gone into the Hallmark store - which is located across the road from the burger place.

I wouldn't expect you to see them come out of the bathroom. They have no need to come out.

The North American Toilet Kraken (Architeuthis loo) is an ambush predator. Its albino coloration makes it almost impossible to spot against the white surfaces of a porcelain toilet bowl or urinal. It's perfectly camouflaged and well adapted to its environment.

What you might have observed (if you'd been in the In 'n Out long enough) is that some of the bathroom users who go In, never come Out. However, this isn't always easy to observe, as the krakens don't need to eat very often and may not harvest more than one or two customers per month.
