The kids go to Gryphon High.

(Including Castela. It's a unified K-12 school for paranormals.)

Indeed. I kinda had a feeling this would be a question suiting you.

Yup. I'm dreadfully accident-prone. Why, when I went to an apothecary shop last week to buy a potion to cure my hog's warts, I walked straight into the griffin door.

Q: most of the mammals seen or named in Wapsi Square are, or appear to be, or probably are of one subclass. One, at least, is definitely of a different subclass. What is it?

For extra credit: if it were a baby, then in the Wapsi context where it appeared... what would it be called, and who would be its better-known cousin?

(Yeah, I realize that's obscure and twisted  )

Joke answer: most of the mammals seen in Wapsi are (or appear to be, or probably are) primates. Dietzel is a canid.

(I hope that is not the answer you're looking for.)

In this very thread, jwhouk already mentioned the 'Echidna Martini'. Sure, in context it may well actually refer to the Mother of All Monsters of Greek mythology, but it still counts, right? 8-)

The echidna is a monotreme. The subclass may be called Prototheria. The young of the echidna are called puggles, and its better-known cousin is the platypus. 8-)

... and it's because I knew their young are called puggles that I thought to search the forum for "echidna"! :P

Very good! You got all but the finest details in the extra-credit section.

Since the Echidna Martini is a drink served at the Cerberus Club, a "puggle" would be an alcohol-free version for those under drinking age... and its better-known cousin would be Shirley Temple. ;)

Your question, sir?

Well, let's see ...

Q: When did Bud first voice a suspicion that something was "wrong" with Brandi?

ETA: As I just commented, a better phrasing is:

Q: When did Bud first imply that something was "wrong" with Brandi?

That's poorly phrased. Let me try and fix that:

Q: When did Bud first imply that something was "wrong" with Brandi?

No?

Hint: We're talking about the implication of a loaded question.

To clarify my hint, we're looking for a question.

Are you talking about when Bud went to talk with Shelly, they went to Darien's bar, she met Jacqui, which was a good experience for Bud ("She was nice just because!") but still ended up crying on Monica's couch ("I felt so f'ing helpless")? When Brandi learned that Shelly had made Bud cry, she went to straighten her out (Now, do I adequately have your attention?)

When we see Brandi later, she tells Bud that she'll be "pleased to know that Shelly does not hate you." Bud's immediate reply with what seemed like panic in her voice, was what could be termed an ominous question: "What did you do to her?!"

Personally, I think it implies more that Brandi, just like the other two, is a powerful, and therefore dangerous, being, capable of doing much damage, rather than implying there might be something wrong with her. However, I am including this event and question, just in case this is the one Sidhekin was looking for.

Yeah, I agree.

Perhaps "imply" was also a poor choice of words? It so often suggests subtlety. In this case, there was none.

Time for another hint?

The question in question was directed to Brandi.

Meh. Seems I have a knack for these thread-killer questions. Sorry about that.

But I'm running out of hints here.

... how about I start taking yes/no questions, Twenty Questions style?

Had this thought bouncing around for a few days now and maybe it will help someone else.

Was is around the time Brandi was catching flies and releasing them?

(no, I'm not playing. Think me like the audience from Q.I. Every so often when the regulars get stumped I get to yell something out :D )

Answer: I guess? Not that that is saying a lot, since Brandi seems to be doing this pretty much all of the time ...

It's not in nor in the immediate proximity to any of the scenes depicting catch nor release, though.

In my case, it's not that the hints have not been useful, it's just that I have not had time to look for anything... Don't give up on us yet! :D
