Dave wrote:"Demara sugar" should be "Demerara sugar", I think, in two places.

Unless, that is, you're referring to some form of sugar substitute, sold under the branding of The Great Impostor? Kind of like Betty Crocker or Aunt Jemima, but with a different face on the package?

And, in any case, 'tis a sweet tale you've told. The kindred-spirit companionship comes through beautifully.
That's my uncle Edgar! Where did you find that!!!

He had a bit of a claim to fame - his wife was a werebeagle. it wasn't hard to tell - she was a real bitch.

More seriously, Dave, thanks for the kudos - and I'll fix that.

I coopted Al's idea for carrots today when making Christmas dinner. A slightly different variation... fresh carrots from the farmers' market, peeled and sliced and steamed, and a glaze made with butter, local honey (lacking any demerara sugar), cinnamon, and nutmeg. It turned out quite nicely, and went well with the smoked turkey, roasted new potatoes with olive oil and garlic, and broiled broccoli.

Please thank Al for me, Alan!

I hope you all had an equally warm and happy Christmas day with your loved ones.

(And... just had a bite of the salted caramel gelato from Trader Joe's. As they say these days... OMG... now I understand the bit about the popsicle.)

Yanno how some people have Angels/Devils for a conscience? I have a Dark Elf ShadowKnight and a Half Elf Ranger for mine. The really bad part is when they agree on something.

OK, I'm back up North again (where you don't need a Fridge, just keep the varmints out...)

So, as I have long nights and indoor only activities, with limited access to Interwebz at the drop of a hat, I'm-a gonna read the 'Truckn' saga tonight and see what can see.

Start with A Late-night Tea before Truckin'. Will make more sense.

Third part is WIP TBA.

Yanno, that was going to be my next question.

By the way, I also saw a lady at our little "celebration" lunch on Tuesday who immediately made me think of Sterling. Extremely light blue and long hair (with an undyed patch at the front, which I didn't see right away).

This was at a Culver's, which might have been up Sterling's alley, food-wise.

Culver's is blergh...at least, every time I was at one.
Schoop's, Miner-Dunn, The Port, Burger Chef, the flagship Texas Roadhouse...

So jelly. I'd love to have pale blue hair just once...well, at least a wee lil streak. I unfortunately have Sterling's issues with dye when my hair turns white...

She has a pixie because of Martial Arts training, plus Military, plus wigs are far easier to use when there isn't a ton of hair pinned under them.

Culver's major selling point (beyond the frozen custard) is the variety of offerings on their menu. They aren't just Butterburgers, yanno.

In fact, if you know what to order, you can get poutine at Culver's.

Strange, though - I always imagined Sterling with longish hair. I assume she's closer to Annie Lennox in her looks, then?

I have NEVER had ANYTHING good come out of Culvers, no matter what I ordered, so I quit going there.

She's always had a Pixie cut while her hair has been white. She also looks a bit Asian in features...
