ShneekeyTheLost, The pickled piper of Ham-handed has now entered the grounds, and will shortly perform selections from his hit albums, "Filk around the clock," Muzak to Perturb the Neighbours," and "For Those About to Pun, 'Filk you'".
(With only a few apologies to Gilbert and Sullivan)

I am a very model of a filking individual
by using well-known melodies with lyrics quite original
on topics such as firely, star trek and wars and Omminous Hum
B5 and Pern, Harringtonverse, and even Miles Vorkosigan
My filking is deplorable, with punning which is horrible
that's why I am a model of a filking individual
Personally, I rather like this interpretation of the song... :geek: :ugeek:

In the vein of Sgt. Howard, here's my golem song.
Sung to the tune of 'Werewolves of London'...

Golems of Wapsi
With apologies to Warren Zevon

I saw a Golem Girl with a coffee menu in her hand
Walking through Wapsi Square on the main
She was looking for a place called Mucho Mocha
Going to get a big cup of souchong lapsang
Ah-hooo
Golems of Wapsi
Ah-hooo
Ah-hooo
Golems of Wapsi
Ah-hooo

If you hear them prowling around your bedroom door
Better not let them in
Pixie Girl got silly-stringed late last night
Golems of Wapsi again
Ah-hooo
Golems of Wapsi
Ah-hooo
Ah-hooo
Golems of Wapsi
Ah-hooo

She’s the golden-eyed girl
that could destroy the world
They say she’s been crazy forever
Better stay away from her
Takes a lot to make her purr
I’d like to date her mother
Ah-hooo
Golem’s of Wapsi
Ah-hooo
Ah-hooo
Golems of Wapsi
Ah-hooo

Well, I saw Paul Taylor walking with the girl
Doing the Golems of Wapsi
I saw Pablo Taylor walking with the girl
Doing the Golems of Wapsi
I saw a golem drinking a Martini at the Cerberus Club
Her body was perfect
(Dhep!)
Ah-hooo
Golems of Wapsi
(Draw blood)
Ah-hooo
Golems of wapsi

Way back in March of twenty-ought-eleven we had this occurrence that inspired this filk -
Sung to The Point of Know Return by Kansas

The Poit of Know Return
I heard the girls saying something
The captains tell they pay you well
And they say they need glyph readers to
Show the way, down the walk today
Was it you that said ‘How long, how long?’

They say the sky turned so dark and
You see the flag, a running gag
They say the point is Golem guarded
To retrieve the box, we’ll send the fox
Was it you that said ‘How long, how long,
How long to the poit of know return’

Your barista, she says she needs you
Your librarian, she says she loves you
Your sisters they echo your words
‘How far(How far? How far?) to the poit of know return?’
To the poit of know return?
(oh well, how long, how long)

Today I found a mound of snow that
Had two feet, from underneath
And they say that you can’t hear it
The snowball that has your name
Was it you that said How long, how long, how long,
To the poit of know return?
How Long?
How long to the poit of know return?
Know return, how long, how long?

This is the result of random play putting the Boss on while I was working on a colorization...

57 Tries (and Nothin’s Wrong)
Found me a baby and she’s every man’s wish
Richer than Gates and a real spicy dish
She sat me down, she had to tell me the truth
‘This ain’t no body’s first time ‘round on this earth
Everybody’s happy because they don’t know what’s going on
It took fifty seven tries, now nothing’s wrong
Fifty seven tries and nothing’s wrong
Fifty seven tries and nothin’s wrong’

Tellin’ me the big picture was my Baby’s desire
Then she spoke the words that set my mind on fire
‘The woman you claim to love and choose next to lay
Has been alive for thousands of years and is made out of clay
Humans are a group to which I’ll never truly belong
It took Fifty-seven tries now nothing’s wrong
Fifty-seven tries and nothing’s wrong
Fifty-seven tries and nothin’s wrong’

‘There’s a machine that controls how time flows
But it got broke, you know how that goes
It mostly runs fine, but there’s one thing on which you can bet
In December twenty-twelve every damn time it would reset
I’m the only one that could see time wasn’t moving along
It took fifty-seven tries now nothing’s wrong
Fifty-seven tries and nothing’s wrong
Fifty seven-tries and nothin’s wrong’

‘The machine was stopped and thrown into the sun
Eighty thousand years of re-runs ain’t no kind of fun
Time is moving, it don’t skip back is how
We’ve gone on to uncharted territory now
Her words shake my soul like echoes from a gong
‘It took fifty-seven tries now nothing’s wrong
Fifty-seven tries and nothing’s wrong
Fifty-seven tries and nothin’s wrong’

She says she’s fine but when the cold winds blow
My baby will run outside and yell at the snow
I hold her close and ask why she looks so scared
She says she see’s people who just ain’t there
The good times are short, and bad times too long
It took fifty-seven tries, now nothing’s wrong
Fifty-seven tries and nothing’s wrong
Fifty-seven tries and nothin’s wrong

Or was it fifty-six?
