Re: 2013-05-24 Delayed Comic (Due to Plumbing Problems)

Like all first-year conventions, Furlandia had its little glitches. Unlike many cons, the hotel caused a lot of them. Not the first time a hotel hasn't been really capable of handling a con... there have been cases in which the managment's basic incompetence and lack of preparation and service has ...

Re: Sweet Dreams 2013-05-23

This is the big probelm. http://wapsisquare.com/comic/throwingusaway/ By the comments in this strip and the ones following it, the GG were given to Tepoz shortly before the attempt to destroy the Calendar by May. That was around 562. If this is right then how could the girls be under Tepoz's contro...

Re: 2013-05-24 Delayed Comic (Due to Plumbing Problems)

Here's hoping it's not the sort of plumbing emergency which tries to emulate a VE7 caldera-forming eruption from within your main sewer pipes! ;) (Fortunately those are usually limited to college dorms, when somebody does the flush-firecrackers-down-the-toilet trick during a floor party) ((No, I nev...

Re: Sweet Dreams 2013-05-23

I probably should avoid this point but, yesterday Bud mentioned that Tepoz told them they were protecting the Etheitans. If Tepoz told them this is after he was made their guardian. By other points that doesn't happen until Just before the time loop starts. I think this flashback has a few holes in...

Only for values of "slight edit" which involve a massive, overkill-level strike with three-stage thermonuclear weapons.

Ebert's review reads like the equivalent of the Pythonesque "This is not a wine for drinking. This is a wine for laying down and avoiding."

Re: Sweet Dreams 2013-05-23

OK, some suppositions confirmed and others overturned. Acacia is definitely still in the semi-robot-golem mode here. "Bud" isn't really there - the original young girl is still submerged. And, Brandi has enough control over Acacia to put her into "suspend" status. Dunno about you...

Re: The Same Crystal 2013-05-22

I'm actually feeling more sympathy for poor Tepoz. He wants them to rediscover their individuality, but to succeed, he has to completely avoid reminding them of the Chimera. Of course he's going to lie. That seems to be close to a classic question I remember from ethics and philosophy. You know som...

Oh, that's fine... no problem here with grimdark. I just wanted to draw a line in the glassy sand, before anybody got the wrong ideas.

No. Kawaii. Chimerae.

Re: The Same Crystal 2013-05-22

Side note: Tepoz is such a liar! I mean, we knew he didn't always tell the truth before, but I was under the impression it was because he didn't always know the truth...so he filled in the gaps with his own fanciful ideas. Now it's clear that his history of lying is loooong. Granted, it might have ...

The true purpose of the Chimera

Thinking over what's been disclosed in the strip in recent weeks (the Lanthis/Anasazi connection, Brandi's "Deal" with the Demon Realm to seal off the Earth from inter-dimensional incursions by the Elder Gods such as Shiva and Amun, the Golem Girls' roles as protectors of the Lanthian surv...

Now while I'm no expert, and while the pigmentation weirdness is not meant to be particularly noticeable in most cases, we've seen, um, a LOT of Katherine's skin in the comic. I'm sure some hints may have shown up before now if she WAS some sort of chimera? I was wondering about that just last nigh...

Re: The Same Crystal 2013-05-22

Well, crap. Kath may be a composite of fsix individual people/babies dumped into the same crystal. Not dissimilar in some ways to a known human biological phenomenon, when two fraternal twins merge in the womb (very soon after fertilization). You get a baby (and eventually an adult) whose body cons...

I notice that Mr. P.has not stepped in to correct the ideas being discussed today - which would suggest that most - if not all are on the right track. Or, he's sitting back and happily watching us jump to Conclusions, knowing that we'll all have a hard swim back to shore ;) I certainly hope he gets...

Re: Six Women 2013-05-21

As to Bud, that's GOT to be an intentional look. Unless she's been eating plutonium. But you have to wonder what sort of role she's playing in this society that walking around in mummy wrappings and glowing from eyes and mouth (but not nose, ears, or - I hope - any other orifice) is normal for her....

OK, she did remember to put in an ID... but she forgot to make it a dynamic-sized array structure. Oops. Fecundity == index overflow. Six sets of quads... hmmm... recent stats say it's about 1 quadruple in 700,000 pregnancies. If the odds were similar then, it would indicate about 4.2 million pregna...

Va va va VOOM!

I suspect the reason she isn't well remembered, is that few who saw the show survived to tell about it.

Re: Working Perfectly 2013-05-20

So - I was wrong - dark-haired girl is Brandi. Mummy girl is Bud. It will be interesting to see how all this fits into the origin of the GG triad. Was the chimera created from its three original members as a result of this colossal SNAFU? Was it payback for Brandi's overconfidence? I'm not even goi...
