laughing at the thongs I shouldn't... My niece about choked when my brother said he bought dollar-store thongs to wear in the campground shower. Anyhow, I've been observing (too often, probably) that stretch pants were a bad idea in the 60s, and they're a worse idea today. What's ...

Re: Oops 2018-03-06

I'm double jointed, and I can assure you that you can still strain the ligaments and tendons if you're not warmed up. In fact, if you're double jointed, you can actually have a harder time _not_ being strained, as your joints want to drop apart. You have to use the muscles to lock your shoulders in ...

If you plan to do that as a Druidic sacrament, you'll have a real reason to look forward to the weekend. I could never hold out that long.

Re: More Stuff

And WW II was fought less than two decades after WW I, all the WW I veterans (who survived) were still alive and still more than aware. In fact, that's what permitted Hitler to expand so rapidly, The UK and most of Europe was so war-weary from the first world war that they didn't want another major...

Re: More Stuff

Conversely, wars happen every twenty-five to thirty years because that's how long it takes to raise a new generation of cannon fodder who watch war movies and read comic books and think war is magnificent. Man, I never realised that the 100 year war, the War of the Roses, the American Civil War, th...

Because Dead Animals protect better than Lycra and Spandex. But seeing as how the animals weren't protection enough for themselves, what with them now being dead and all, it would be more logical to wear live animals! Re: Anyone Want Some Grapefruit?

Must be regional Bookworm, because four decades ago riding/walking against direction of traffic was the official rule, then ten years after that, they couldn't decide and changed it every few. I also lived in the Chicagoland/NWIN area. Could be. I grew up in Texas. I know it was discussed that peop...

My mom said she's gonna find me a spare charger when she gets home this evening. On a completely unrelated note, I've noticed that it's not quite so easy to find movies/documentaries or whatever in regards to the first World War, though there's plenty of books. Why is this war relatively ignored co...

Re: Anyone Want Some Grapefruit?

Regarding biking the wrong way. They've changed the rules a lot in the last four decades. It uses to be the law to ride against traffic so "they could see you". I grew up with that, and it took new town and a ticket to learn that(and I proved that with ye olde bicyclists manual from old t...

Re: Anyone Want Some Grapefruit?

When I see cyclists behaving well, I give them all of the rights that they are issued by law, and often will go out of my way to try to assist (slowing so they can move lanes for a turn, etc). Unfortunately, I rarely see this. Most don't even seem to understand how to use arm signals. (The reason ar...

Re: Anyone Want Some Grapefruit?

Optimum knife range is the same as optimum handgun range. Who told you such a silly thing? Optimum knife range is from 'in a grapple' to around five or ten feet. Optimum handgun range is 20-50 feet. Handguns in melee are dangerous, because people still seem to think they can still pull the trigger ...

I have to delay a bit. I'm going to have to physically go to the system, as SSH, for some reason, has turned off. Everything else is functioning, so I'm not driving there tonight.

I like that, even though the very thought of 'compulsory' training smacks of Great Evil to many who've been training themselves to expect a certain thing is only one way. I'm thinking Competency is a good antidote towards Fear. Well, driver's education _is_ compulsory in many states. What's wrong w...

One such pedestrian lady that got caught was d...
