Re: Pecking Order 2012-08-14

Fairportfan - don't get too insanely locked into Greek mythology (or any other). Think of it as there being two stories. The front story is that which got written down. The back story is what happened in the background. To the Greeks, they figured there was only one Sphinx. There might have been six...

Re: Pecking Order 2012-08-14

Elizabeth Báthory (Erzsébet Báthory), your namesake, has been labeled the most prolific female serial killer in history (between 80 and 650), so you might want to pause to ponder. By some accounts she bathed in the blood of virgins, i believe Yes, but the only true facts that they know for sure was...

Re: Pecking Order 2012-08-14

Oh good lord, she's cannibalistic too? She eats other sentient beings after she murders them? This has just gone from gory and disgusting to loathsome and sickening. I don't believe it was ever confirmed she actually ate demons, just killed them. The sphinx life may be brutal, but are there no laws...

Re: So Weak 2012-08-13

I'd like to point out that you can't really dictate morals to the characters in the strip - at least, not the non-human characters. Morality is a set of guilt complexes that are built by a society to promote or discourage specific behaviors. In the US, our society would generally consider hacking bo...

Hm. .Your cookies may not be 'taking'. So it requires another login when you attempt to post, so it can confirm that _right at that moment_ you are an authorized user.

You might want to purge your cache (including cookies) if you don't mind logging into other sites that use cookies.

Re: No Title 2003-06-23 Broken?

Opera was the first browser to have tabbed browsing and the "Speed Dial" function. I'm not sure about this. I've seen the claim, but I was using tabbed browsing long before Firefox even existed. Not in Netscape Navigator, but the original Mozilla (When the browser was called Mozilla, not ...

Re: Hidy

It looks like there's a way to 'enable' all comments, then 'close' all comments. I might have to do it in the database. There'd be a 'comments are closed for this article' message for every page.

Re: No Title 2003-06-23 Broken?

It's probably a cache overload. Every time you load the page, it's checking to see if there's cached information locally, then allowing you to pull a copy (if there's no local one). Closing the browser flushes the active cache. The only way to sort of test it would be to go to another page, empty IE...

Okay - people are going to laugh, but the only members of 'newly registered users', it appears, were the moderators.

Re: So Weak 2012-08-13

It wasn't murder. It was suicide.

It's like going up to a gorilla that's got a known toothache, and an infected big toe, then hitting it with a stick. It's GOING to rip your head off.

(Or going into a dwarf bar and asking for a 'short beer')

It's suicide.

Well, you should automatically move out of 'newly registered users' after a few posts. I've put all the moderators into groups, as well as administrators, and even _I'm_ not seeing the correct PM links

Don't worry about it. I put this together for introductions, and for 'lurkers' to have a place to say something, then go back to lurking, without having to jump into a discussion.

Mind you, I'm enjoying reading the intros!

As my time is kind of tight, if one(more?) of you wants to go through the styles available at http://www.phpbb.com/styles/ - feel free to do so, and put suggestions here. Paul and I can try to sort through them. People could also grab one of the graphics development kits if they wanted to try to cre...

Re: Board Requests (Mods?)

As has been discussed, this will NOT be a threaded board. If you like chaos, visit /. If you want to reply to an earlier post, use the quote section, and just chop out the sections you aren't responding to. It's not difficult. If the topic seems to be getting too crowded, just create a new topic, or...

Generally, in most of the browsers, you just right click the link, and select 'open in new tab'.
