Re: A Journey And An Obligation

I just reread this piece and, this bit: Soon, there were glimmerings of light on the horizon as they made their way up Route 75 toward I-81. As the sky lightened, the surroundings showed them old, worn mountains – the beginnings of the Appalachian range that they would spend time threading through. ...

Re: Fanfic Index Thread

Fixed. I had forgotten that after a reinstall, Excel didn't trust me yet.

(But I told it to, so now it should.)

(Gee that sounds like fantastic security.)

Fixed, thanks.

I also rewrote the stuff before the list, and added a copyright statement.

Re: Fanfic Index Thread

Incidentally, while I realize this would make even more work for warrl, would it be possible to include the comment threads in the list, for those fanfics that have them, so we don't have to go hunt them down on our own, every time we read a story (particularly since when reading a story, we won't ...

Re: Fanfic Index Thread

This is what's known as a typographical error. Will be fixed momentarily. I would be annoyed with myself, but unsurprised, if someone finds other typos in the list. The ones that got falsified, the first story in the series kept its accurate date and subsequent parts got the day(s) immediately follo...

Re: Fanfic Index Thread

An electronic image of stacks of paper pages (a pdf file) is not an ebook. In fact, in terms of what matters to the format it's pretty much the opposite: the exact page size and exact font size are critical to the process of creating a pdf file, whereas for an ebook file they aren't even knowable (a...

Re: Holiday Comments Section

given that the counter for these story threads are up in the many thousands. Most are in the tens of thousands, several in the hundreds - plural - of thousands. Heck, even those two pictures I found - "when a man loves" and "another place for clothes shopping" are up in the thou...

Never let the audience know that THAT wasn't supposed to happen... unless you need EMTs or something equivalent, and possibly not then. (Sliced arm? Grab it and get the person offstage, and carry on. Sliced-off arm? Panic.) I once saw a pair of actors "arguing" on stage and getting raves f...

Re: We have until about Christmas before new material, Where's the portal to the coffeehouse?

Zelle compliments the mage on his musical accompaniment and learns his name is Sargent Howard - 'Sarge' for short. Naturally, the two of them want to examine each other's instruments. Sarge is astounded to find no controls on Zelle's harp that could account for its versatility of sound. Meanwhile, Z...

Aside: I just tossed the two elves' full Elvish names into Google Translate.

They are (supposedly) Greek.

To'ryll doesn't change in translation to English.

But their surname changes from Drathmir to Dratimir, and Uuthli changes to Hytili.

Gee thanks, Google, that's so enlightening...

Re: We have until about Christmas before new material, Where's the portal to the coffeehouse?

Zelle watches in astonishment, having never before even heard of a 'summon banquet' spell. Then she takes a sip of her tea (mint and 'dark chocolate', whatever that is) and, sliding her harp back in her bag, goes to examine the offerings. On the way she notes that this Freeflier's tea smells familia...

"I don't recognize any of those places," the short woman says, "but I already suspected we're from different worlds." She watches this 'Tina' assemble the beverages, or more particularly watches the devices being used. "Thank you, Tina, I was intending to get some food."...

Re: We have until about Christmas before new material, Where's the portal to the coffeehouse?

A small woman appears. She would look about 30 years old were it not for her height. Slender but not thin, she is dressed in elegant and formal-looking robes of very high quality and carrying a matching shoulder-bag with a silver-colored strap - her long hair appears to flow into the bag. Her ears a...

When we got it (early June) it was even milder than that - we didn't get the headache or fever.

Turns out, it's a copper dragon
And I somehow read that with an entirely different, non-metallic meaning of "copper"... which opened up all sorts of interesting possibilities. (After all, if a bunny and a fox can, then why not a dragon?)

I've heard several similar stories, and I think the large majority of them were deliberate jokes on the part of the people who originated them... who, in real life, may or may not have been the people who did so in the story.
