Re: GMC Crate motor Recommendations

Look who was outside today! The Jeep I had mentioned to Al! From the info on the plates, she is a 1942 build, delivered in August. The shot of the rear was taken from my vehicle- I had stopped in the road and gawked in amazement. After arriving home, I took out on foot to go get a closer look and to...

Re: GMC Crate motor Recommendations

There's a townhome that I used to walk by and occasionally the garage door was open. Inside is a Willys jeep, don't know what year since I don't know the model details, plus never have seen the owner outside. To me it is a 40's model, not early, perhaps late or post-WW2. You just reminded me of som...

Re: GMC Crate motor Recommendations

OK, yes, that is a possibility but that's a complete stripdown and reassembly of the top end and front of the engine to do it. Tappets are the bit that ride on the camshaft - as the lobes of the cam rotate the lifters move up and down in their guides. As they do, the movement is impressed on the pu...

Re: 100 Years Later

The armstice to end the "War To End All Wars" was signed 100 years ago on 11 November 1919. I salute all of our veterans who have served their countries in the name of freedom. Special thanks go to our board vets, Sarge and Al. Thank you for your service. Armistice took effect 11/11/1918....

Thank you for the hugs, kind words, and a story with many feels. The J was a huge goofball that loved unconditionally and always wanted to be by my side. It is quiet around the house, but I have a couple of her toys placed where I can easily see them- not that I need a reminder of her, they are ther...

And I've decided to finally let everyone know that there won't be any new Jasper updates after this one. I had to say goodbye to her last month. Back in June, she started having seizures. After tests and scans, she was diagnosed with having a tumor on her brain along with a heart condition and other...

Re: Photo Album

OK buckaroos, Airshow time again! Last weekend was Wings Over Houston, quite the event with dozens of aircraft and tens of thousands spectators braving the heat and humidity! I chose wisely when I purchased a ticket in the photo pit- guaranteeing me an up-close vantage point for photos and a delicio...

Re: More Stuff

I've decided that this is the last time I go to the dealership to get an oil change. I won't have to wait if I just get the tools and do all that myself. Doesn't take too much. Get an oil filter wrench; it's very helpful. (big socket version). Also get a belt wrench, because some of the filters are...

Stone tape, or multiverse. Is it live, or is it Memorex?
ISWYDT. Pun Jar.
If it is stone tape, would it be called "Memorox"?

Thanks to all that voiced appreciation of my feeble attempts at photography. The altitude we were messing around at was between 7-9K ft depending on location. On the way back I traversed Monarch Pass on US 50- 11,312 ft. Highest elevation I've been in a vehicle was over Imogene Pass between Telluri...

Was in southwest Colorado last week- visited Mesa Verde, drove through Durango, Silverton, Ouray, Telluride, stayed in Ridgway, and visited The Black Canyon of the Gunnison. It was nice to be out of the Texas heat but not so great to be a flatlander staggering around at the local elevations. I'm no...
