Not so sure about his intelligence (not saying it's low, just that I'm not sure), But his wisdom is maxed.

Re: The ultimate water-cooled PC?
Anything electroplated can have significant issues due to hydrogen embrittlement. This is why guns are usually plated using electroless nickel. And gun barrels have rather short active lifespans anyway. I did the calculations once (using various plausible but unreliable estimates) and it came out t...

Re: The ultimate water-cooled PC?
Yup, that's correct. This has led to some interesting technical failures. A few years ago, a bunch of iPhones gave up the ghost at a medical facility... they just stopped working. It turned out that helium escaping from the superconductor cooling systems in the new MRI machine was hanging around th...

Re: The ultimate water-cooled PC?
As I understand it, helium diffuses easily because it has the smallest molecule of any substance known to exist - While hydrogen has smaller atoms, hydrogen takes the form H2 -one molecule composed of two hydrogen atoms - and helium does not bond and thus remains monatomic - and smaller than an H2 m...

Re: The ultimate water-cooled PC?
A few years ago someone built a directly liquid-cooled PC . . . by putting it in an aquarium that they filled with mineral oil. They reported using standard components, and the only modifications they needed to make was to alter a few of the incidental adhesives to something that would not dissolve ...

Re-reading this . . . would that "psycho Gremlin" in Chapter 4 be one of the ones with the 390 and a four-speed? (I understand that the later 401 was a bit fragile in the lower end.)

Re: Skinned Us Alive 2023-07-05
But maybe in Castela's case Katherine would have used a peeler. (Aside from the small detail that's she'd never literally skin one of her kids.) So, you're saying that Katherine isn't apeeling? She's been tempted I suspect, probably with Atsali. But I don't think she'd actually act on those temptat...

"I know that ghosts don't exist, because the bogeymen who live in my bedroom told me so." Perhaps these are her anxieties coming to visit her in the night, the way Monica's demons used to bother her. Or else maybe she fell down those stairs harder than we realised, and she's in the afterl...
