. If the whole structure collapsed or any part of the interior, they would be buried for the most part in that alcove and unable to see anything outside the alcove. It's going to be interesting to see what Paul has in mind here. I'm getting the impression that the several floors were built in front...

Re: Target: Mars?

Hmmm -- The Hiroshima bomb yield was about 15 kilotons and directly destroyed a mile diameter circle , damaging another mile distant from blast wave and fires. The Russian meteor detonated at an altitude of about 32 miles with an estimated force of 250 KT (one quarter Megaton), and broke/blew out wi...

Re: Do the right thing, lose your job

In Texas there have been cases where the drunk patron has, successfully, sued the establishment and/or bartender when allowed to drive drunk. In many states, they have a Dram Act to hold the alcohol supplier responsible for continuing to serve visibly intoxicated people. Not much of a stretch here.

There's no indication that the original builders kept horses there, so ir's definitely an unstable building. Un stable building, Gracie??? Chico - What's the difference between a stable and a barn? Groucho - If you look at it, it's a barn. If you smell it, it's a stable. Chico - Well, let's j...

I blame the library for this. Consider: - Kat wants a bit of adventure, and starts some research about something interesting, where - She meets EXACTLY the right person entering the library, who - Takes her to the right portal door meeting her needs, which - Is booby trapped in such a way that - Lau...

Objective journalism is not "And now, for the argument in support of slavery/fascism/communism/rape/etc..." One can illustrate, illuminate, and educate, or you can remonstrate, prevaricate, and titillate. The latter pays more, but the former is more useful. Necessarily, you often need to d...

Just thinking about how the library delivers "An Adventure" quick, fast, and in a hurry!

Truly, one must be careful what you wish for in that place.

Re: China Bans Reincarnation - Without Permission

The old Actuary was reviewing his funeral plans with his wife, for he liked to plan ahead. "But why, oh why," she asked, "do you want to be buried in Jerusalem? We've lived here for 60 years -- isn't that good enough?" "Yes, my love, that's true, but Jerusalem has the highes...

There's a lady who knows how the spiders unfold, and she's buying a stairway to heaven. If it works, then she knows if the doors are all closed that the spell will give her what she came for. Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, and she's buying a stairway to heaven. There's a cove in the wall but she wants to be su...
