Plus, new animals always go to the vet, for shots, anti parasitical chewies, getting sterilized, etc.

Hell, we got Mesquite down here in Texas. Eucalyptus's slightly less toxic but more ornery cousin. You know, the one us crazy Texans love to smoke with? Well, there's a reason for that tradition. First off, it's wildly invasive, I think it originated over in Africa or something, like Kudzu. And, lik...

Hooooo boy, where do I begin about the level of fail in that email? First off, my brother was in the 82nd before transferring to 1st Air Cav, so yea... that kinda ruins it, doesn't it? Anyway, no General is going to be making any 'oil deals' in Afghanistan, and they certainly wouldn't be including r...

Calamari is actually quite tasty if prepared properly, lightly fried and battered. I like to use a Tempura batter personally, and you have to be careful because over-cooking makes them go rubbery.
But properly prepared? Quite tasty.

A turkey stuffed with a duck stuffed with a chicken, all baked one in the other. A bit tricky, but ducks are so damn greasy that it's pretty easy to make sure it doesn't dry out.Catawampus wrote:Turkraken?

It's fall in some places, not in Conroe. Temperature was still up around 90 F when Jasper and I took our evening walk around 6PM. She may have been enjoying the fan I set up for her after we returned home. J Fan.JPG Yea, well that's also Conroe, also known as Houston's Armpit. Drive about an hour a...

Yea, I've been sharing that around the place. If you like, here is the full five minute speech he gave, which presents his clear, concise, and unambiguous stance on this topic.

Swap out the mayo for curry and maybe peach preserves for mango chutney, and you've got a much better sandwich. The sweet from the maple marinade plus curry would make for a sweet heat, especially if you used a mild yellow curry. Since it is supposed to be a Georgia special, just go ahead and keep t...

You know not what of what you request. There are some things, terrible things, which were lost, to the betterment of humanity. Do not exhume that which should rightfully die, lest you experience something so eldritch, so alien, that your mind breaks attempting to make sense of something which fundam...

Besides, tracked vehicles are gas guzzlers... while effective at crawling over nearly any sort of terrain, it is not the most efficient means of converting rotational motion into horizontal motion. But yea, as long as there are no weapons mounted, and you remove the mounts as well, and get all the a...

Irma is now officially the strongest recorded hurricane since they started recording them. NOAA seems to think she's going to take an abrupt 90 degree turn north, I am not so sure about that. The front that they think is going to deflect her just isn't going to be strong enough, I don't think. They'...

Compare and contrast with Best Buy who, apparently 'accidentally', ended up charging some crazy prices for cases of bottled water.

I just use Imgur to host images. Pretty user friendly, completely free, does what I want it to do. Honestly, Photobucket had enough troubles with competition as it was. This is the kiss of death for it. They may struggle and flail around a bit longer, but ultimately... they have spelled their own do...

Yea, Harvey is a Cat 4, but I'm far enough inland that, while I've made ample, in fact almost certainly excessive, preparations... I very much doubt they will be necessary. My particular property is in an elevated section of my part of Texas, some 20 feet of elevation above the '100 year flood point...

We had partly cloudy skies. Kiddo and I did a science experiment. Set up a pinhole camera, shining down onto a clipboard of copy paper. Every five minutes, we'd go out, he'd sketch the shape and position of the dot. We not only were able to capture the Eclipse, we were also, thanks to having a fixed...

I find it hard to believe that Joe could do anything horrible enough to get kicked out of a forum made for bouncing ideas off each other and for proofreading... That's probably why they're always hiring. Mom told me that I should try working in a nursing home. Apparently they have all kinds of jobs, and they pay well. Not only that, but if I so choose, I can take a six or seven week course, during which I'll get paid, and upon completion I'll be able to ma...

Well, it's been two weeks since I applied to Hobby Lobby, so I'm gonna guess that they either aren't hiring, or aren't going to hire me. So I'm gonna check to see if there are any positions at the nearest Lowe's, and then at the optical lab I used to deliver for (which is right next to that Lowe's)...

Re: 21 August 2017 - Total Solar Eclipse
I'd set up a pinhole to cast a dot at a piece of paper, then use video to capture the eclipse as it is happens so I can slow it down to its phases. Maybe make the capture area graph paper so I can more precisely track the movement of the sun and percentage of eclipse as it passes. Sadly, I'm only go...
