Re: Bad weather

It's even windier than usual right now, over 40 kn much of the time. I saw a coyote come loping out of some trees and head up the lee side of a ridge. Just as it crested the ridge, a strong gust blew over. The poor coyote was literally blown off its feet, flipped over and rolled back down the ridge...

Re: She Said She Said 2016-01-13

As an only child, I never was able to lie to a sibling about what Mom said was okay (or not)...but I definitely was ballsy enough to lie to one parent about what the other parent had said. I think I only did that two or three times because once they discovered the lie, I was punished for it (I have ...

I don't even wanna think about that.
I've already told the people in my office that I'll be taking a personal day when that happens. :( That one will hurt worse.

My heart is hurting for this one. As much as I learned to love his music as I grew up, my first memory of the man was from film. :( RIP Goblin King!

Re: Fire drink?

So, steak purists: brilliance, or blasphemy? I'm going to say that it looks pretty damn brilliant to me. :) Then again, my favorite home-cooked steaks aren't grilled. They're seared in a cast iron skillet and cooked (for a very short time on either side) in the oven. :P Um, guys? Can someone pull D...

I don't get why everyone is fawning over a luxury car. People buy those to show that they have a lot of money. They don't do anything a much cheaper car won't, aside from maybe go fast. But then again, all those fancy sports cars with several hundred horsepower? A waste, usually, because where are ...

Whirley pukey. Saw it in XD, got my son the BB-8 goggles...took me hours for my brain to register reality properly again. The only one more painful was Avatar... Is it the things in motion on the screen that cause that, or is it just the perceived depth of field in general? For me it's the motion o...

Re: Fire drink?

Yup! A Philly is not steak... it is good, but it's not steak. Chicken-fried steak is almost not steak, but it's much closer than a Philly. We also pray for those who prefer medium-well or worse to see the error of their ways. I eat medium-well if I don't know and/or trust the person cooking the ste...

*shakes head* Either Berdine is way more clueless than I'd expect, or she is way more cruel than I'd understood. The book she got.... A thesaurus or a rhyming dictionary? Magnificently tawdry rapscallion Someone has a developed vocabulary. Or perhaps they're studying Shakespeare? I'm pretty sure I p...

It. Was. An. Aston. Martin. DB5. As big a womanizing pompous bloat ego'd jerk as he was, I'd never hurt her. That car was breathtaking. *nodsnods* What Dinky said! Rule #1- Never EVER hurt an Aston! If I even hear about intentional Aston damage, I will find a way to take it out on your hide.

Re: A Non-Spoiler review on how the new Star Wars feels....

I've missed out on most of the filmz I've on 'the list' like the final Mockingjay (stuff you want to catch on the Big Screen). Star Wars is on that list. I've spent the Holidays waaay up a curvy country road, far from civilization, and the closest Silver Screen is already got the Hateful Eight as t...

'Sali, one other glitch in your strategery... Eggnog with a strong alcohol content keeps well, and is often considered to improve when aged for up to a year (refrigeration is recommended). Well...as she pointed out, her general dingy-ness might be considered an "excuse" for any flaws in t...

And here is Jasper deploying puppy dog eyes in hope of stray piece of jalapeño sausage from the grill this evening. She did get a bite later! :) She's the cutest! I fed something spicy to Pepper once. It didn't go well. Granted, I did it semi-maliciously as a way to let her know she shouldn't be be...

Just gusty and wet in Houston area so far, weatherman promised heavier stuff this afternoon. Miss Julie had to duck and cover last night, bad weather was close to her. For what it's worth, I very much enjoyed it. :) It's actually the first 3D movie I've seen that hasn't made me sick...and the movie was fun on top of that! :D
