Re: More Stuff

PlayOnLinux knows how to install MS Office 2007 so nearly everything in Word, Excel, and Powerpoint (dunno why you'd want that) work... but not Access. (Drat!) I think I once found instructions for installing Access2007 so it would sorta somewhat work, but I haven't been able to find them again. Ca...

Re: We need more new content

Paul replied to a question about this in the Pen Launch comments, a couple of days ago: Thanks much for checking in, I plan to start the comic back up this Fall. I’ll be sure to make an announcement here about that in a couple days so folks don’t worry. ^_^ Snrk... Might have been nice to make a si...

Re: More Stuff

Got nothing but "Burn the Noob" type responses. To hell with that. I guess they were never noobs, themselve, then... Never did figure it out, or how to actually update anything. Book didn't discuss it clearly enough for my ignorant self, so it went away. That's the problem with software made...

I love this one: > Linux is not user-friendly. It _is_ user-friendly. It is not ignorant-friendly and idiot-friendly. - Seen somewhere on the net That is the elitist attitude of the kind of Linux-head who, when asked by a newbie for help, spouts a string of CLI-based bafflegab that you'd have to be...

Re: More Stuff

When I was a teenager, I used to ride my bicycle a lot, going on long day rides (100 to 150 km - 60 to 90 mi.), by the time I was 17. To me, it seemed like the logical progression would be that eventually, I would like to get a motorbike. Of course, that never happened. Only two years after leaving ...

I am happily ignorant of programming and such- if the program is something friendly to me, I use it... if not, I get by without. The technologies I am most comfortable with were old before your parents were born and will withstand an electro-magnetic pulse without so much as a hiccough- what's more...

Re: More Stuff

Just read this quote on my wallpaper, and it made me chuckle: Dear Lord: Please make my words sweet and tender, for tomorrow I may have to eat them. I can't find any attribution for it, though. And as I was about to post this, the wallpaper changed, and the quote is now this: “I'm not sure I want po...

I pass by this building every day, while driving the bus. One day, I happened to notice the address number... The following was my immediate thought: We're sorry, the building you are looking for does not exist... 20200520_171547_DSCF9946_1365_1024.JPG 20200520_171417_DSCF9945_1365_1024.JPG

Here are two more amusing quotes put out by my wallpaper changer: It's the opinion of some that crops could be grown on the moon. Somewhere I read the intentional poor grammar and spelling filter out the people with at least half a functioning brain cell, leaving the rest of the dunderheads to actually consider this might be real. Those sad dopes are their prey. I have no difficulty believing that whatsoever. Meanwhile, it ma...
