Re: More Stuff

Hopefully, working with your brother/at the same place as he works won't be as unpleasant as working for your sister was.

Good luck!

Re: Schtupid Email Scams

This was shared with me on Facebook, and it seems rather à propos...

To avoid putting a link towards Facebook (although I'm not sure why I don't want to link directly to it), I am uploading it here directly.

Re: Schtupid Email Scams

I'm on someone's Amazon Scam list, because I'm up past 10 "Your Amazon Account has been frozen due to....." wasp invasion, narwhal vomit, irregular purchases, restricted zoning rights for marsupials, 14th Amendment violations, etc etc etc. I just keep forwarding them to the Report Spam address at A...

Re: Schtupid Email Scams

Today, I found an email in my spam folder, warning me that someone tried to log into my Facebook account from a new Galaxy S10 phone, and to confirm whether that was me or not. Buttons available: sales@stanforduni.com;admin@massachusettsins.co.uk;irosky@e-irosky.me;harvarduni@harvarduni.org;univ@uni...

Re: Schtupid Email Scams

I got one on the phone telling me I was about to arrested for tax fraud- I punched the requested number and as soon as an "OFFICER" connected with me, I screamed into the phone "COME AND GET ME, MOTHERF&CKER!!!"... I felt so relaxed after that... I recently got another call like that, but this time...

Perhaps so, but I still think they could have told you in person... To me, that's just about as tactless as someone breaking up by text message, or something...

I was just let go over the phone. I didn't even get to finish the 30 days.
Did they blame "social distancing", to not bother telling you in person?

Re: More Stuff

I hope you manage to tough it out and succeed with the probation period. You know, maybe they're not telling you as much, because of the very fact that your sister is the second in command: either they are afraid of showing preferential treatment, and are going too far in the other direction, or the...

Re: March 12, 2020 (aka COVID-19 thread)

They dialed it back, since then, removing the pedestrian extra space at the left, but at the height of the "Let's make room for cyclists and pedestrians during this COVID thing", this was one of the more egregious examples of accommodations they made: 20200622_090142_DSCF0021_1365_1024.JPG The stree...

Re: More Stuff

À propos of nothing... I get frustrated about certain sites, which contain automatically-starting videos (oftentimes completely unrelated to the subject of the page I am reading), and which will automatically switch to a different video, after the previous one is done playing. And said video will s...

Re: Minor difficulty with Spotify client under Windows 10

Maybe, maybe not... One odd thing I found, was that booting back into Windows, it was asking for the password key for BitLocker. The only way to get into Windows again was to boot back under UEFI. I then un-bitlocked my SSD, so that was no longer a problem. But I forget if there was another issue wi...

The quote put up by my wallpaper changer seems rather a propos:
But scientists, who ought to know
Assure us that it must be so.
Oh, let us never, never doubt
What nobody is sure about. - Hilaire Belloc

Re: Minor difficulty with Spotify client under Windows 10

As some of you may recall, I have now had a Windows 10 (Ugh!) tablet for a little over two years. What kind of EIndoes 10 tasblet? I have yet to find a way to even test a Linux partition on my Surface GO - UEFI is locked down hard and there's no way to go to legacy. It's a Dell Latitude 5285 (looks...

Minor difficulty with Spotify client under Windows 10

As some of you may recall, I have now had a Windows 10 (Ugh!) tablet for a little over two years. I bought a larger SSD drive for it, so I can multiboot into Linux, but I have yet to make/take the time to install it, so for now, I run exclusively with Win10. Lately, I have been having a minor diffic...

re: MS Access [and other Office apps], the main trouble, as I understand things, is Visual Basic support. Reverse Engineered/Open Source VB is not a real thing, yet, so stuff breaks. Exactly.
