Re: More Stuff

Meh. RDX-Rat is so last year that even the big-box stores carry it. It's for the unadventurous suburbanite. The really intrepid DIY rat-remover uses antimatter. The bait is suspended over an opening in the magnetic bottle, the rat's tail or leg breaks the field when it tries to get to the bait, and...

Re: More Stuff

Another option is to put the bait on a pressure plate connected to twenty pounds of RDX. After that, you won't have to worry about rats in that particular kitchen again. Or those particular dirty dishes on those specific counters again. Or anything else regarding that specific kitchen again. Meh. R...

Re: More Stuff

I am perplexed... In the fall of 2018, the first fall in my new house, I had let myself become somewhat lax with my dishwashing... at one point, I noticed mouse droppings on the kitchen counters. I read up on it, cleaned up the rest of the dishes, and cleaned the counters with vinegar. The instances...

Re: March 12, 2020 (aka COVID-19 thread)

Just seen the following text in a YouTube comment... copying and pasting here: “This coronavirus is the strangest virus I’ve ever heard of. It’s very dangerous in the way it spreads. It is so mysterious the way it lurks in schools, but then dies at Home Depot. It can wreak havoc in churches; praying...

geo:52.493464,-3.734597 Well played Sir. I suggest we reference the film 'Roxanne' w/ Steve Martin. While he may not be anyone's given cup of tea, the film had a sequence where he challenges himself to a certain number of " I can insult myself better than You just did..." type one liners... I've ye...

Re: More Stuff

I haven't started reading that comic again, but it occurred to me that the name discrepancy might be in the same way that other webcomics distort brand names, to avoid legal troubles... like the one comic that has WacDonald's and Sandwich King, and so on.

Or it might just be a typo...

Speaking of the beginning of said webcomic, the first thing I noticed when following your link was the subway sign, which said "Côte Vert e ", when it should have said "Côte Vert u "... Interesting. In case you don't know about it, "Shattered Starlight" (set in Montreal} is about a former magical girl who works in the "Cafe le Dead End". The craziness continues, and has reached Montreal, some time ago. Apparently, cries to defund the police have been made up here, and the police union responded in a newspaper, warning of what would happen if the police lost any of its funding, such as longer response time, rise in crime, etc (you kn...

Ah. Yes. I've received that kind of message before, except that the password they claimed was mine had nothing to do with any of my passwords. That's why I didn't make the link between password and backtracking.

Re: This is starting to worry me... (was my phone hacked?)

FWIW - More than once Caller ID said I was calling myself. Some of the spoofing techniques use the area code and local exchange numbers to make you think it's someone local calling. The point is caller ID is not completely trustworthy, although I do believe it when it comes up "Spam" or "Private Nu...

This is starting to worry me... (was my phone hacked?)

Just today, I have received two calls (separated by many hours) where the people told me they were returning my call! I have no idea what that means. Was my phone hacked? My identity stolen? (I have not seen any unusual activity in my bank account or credit card accounts, though, but I have not yet ...
