Re: Warmin Kiss 2012-08-10

Also... did we ever figure out WHY Euryale has such a Southern belle accent? I don't think so. Presumably she lived in the South for some time, but we don't know when or where. American Southern dialects have their origins in various regional dialects from the British Isles, plus some influences fr...

Re: For a While 2012-08-08

Oh, come on. Bump off his wife, then, as the childhood friend, console him, "fall in love" with him, and marry him... You could be quite correct. I'm simply saying that there has never (to my knowledge) been any indication presented in the strip, that Mr. Wahnee was married more than once. Nor is t...

Re: Warmin Kiss 2012-08-10

Now it comes out that Shell is a Sphinx/Titan hybrid who has had the humanity effectively burned out of her. As to Shelly's loss of humanity - I'm not ready to believe that yet. We have only Bia's words in support of this idea, and we know that Bia is a liar and a manipulator. Yes, Shelly is having...

Re: For a While 2012-08-08

Or they may be half-brothers. And we might have to lay a(nother) murder at Bia's feet. I was wondering about that (rather dire) possibility. I don't recall any mention, though, of Shelly's father having been widowered and then remarried... and since Nudge made a point of Bia's having been Shelly's ...

Re: For a While 2012-08-08

I vaguely recall some mention of Shelly having brothers. Would they be immortals as well, and would their daughters have the potential to become sphinxes? That's a good question. Yes, Shelly's "character page" on the main Wapsi site says that she has seven older brothers. None of them (as far as I ...

The artwork on this one has some nice subtlety to it, too. We can just barely see through Translucent-Frosted Ice Monica, to see a distorted image of the picture (dark) and picture frame (lighter) behind her.

Re: For a While 2012-08-08

dumb question. Did I read this correctly? Did Bia create an immortal phoenix that hates her? Well, as I read it, Bia now has at least two people who (may) hate her. Phix seems to be quite furious with Bia. Shelly may very well hate Bia, once the shock wears off and she comes down from Sunset Hoodoo...

Re: For a While 2012-08-08

... The issue becomes bandwidth ... Understood, and it's a very valid concern. I've been very impressed with how "snappy" the forum feels - fast server response, and (I think) efficient easily-rendered HTML. I personally prefer that (in a forum) to a super-graphics-rich multimedia experience. Maybe...

On the other hand, the way Phix referenced the Library as "her turf" makes me inclined to think she can overpower anyone who enters if she so chooses (as long as the great Power that we once heard voiced in the Library doesn't object, I'd imagine :)). I'm envisioning Phix, channeling Mrs. McGreevy ...

Hi - I'm another Dave (one of many I suspect). Confirmed Wapsiholic since the spring of 2011, confirmed punster since pretty much forever, and a very happy camper now that the Wapsi forum is on-line!

There's an immense amount of wisdom and human insight buried in those beloved legends about the gods. Just look at the way CEO's, Politicians and their ilk high-up detatch themselves from the lower-ranks. Often it's not even malintent. They just get só absorbed in the macro-view, that they complete...

Re: Cool Down 2012-08-07

How 'bout Shelley, Phix, and Brandi need a new cat toy? Well, re Phix - as far as we know, Phix doesn't have Titan heritage. Inside the Library nothing can harm her, but outside the Library she may well not be a match for Bia. On the other hand, I have a feeling that Bia may be very reluctant to bo...

Oooh. Very very leonine. Yes, indeed... moreso than we've ever seen portrayed before, I think. It's consistent, though, with what Euryale is saying, and with what Brandi said to Bud after the big bar fight, and even with what Bia said to Shelly. Sphinxes are apex predators. Their nature is that of ...
