Re: More Stuff

It gets better: the assistant manager went in after all, but because I went back in today, they're demanding I go in tomorrow, which was supposed to be my day off, and I'm getting written up because of what happened. In fact, it sounded like I'd have been written up if I had gone back last night, ev...

Re: More Stuff

Well, damn, it didn't last very long. Thursday, I got called in on my day off because they had only the manager and assistant manager of the detail crew (which is actually normal; there's normally never more than two people on the clock) because there was a sales event going on, while at the same ti...

Re: March 12, 2020 (aka COVID-19 thread)

A lot of folks also forget a few minor details, like the size of the US when compared to most other countries, our population size and density, and also how many tests are performed. Someone who only has a mild case and lives in an area that hasn't been hit that hard probably won't bother getting te...

That reminds me, I read somewhere that caffeine (or maybe just coffee) affects spiders the way alcohol affects humans. Have we seen Digit drinking coffee?

At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that just looking at someone with the virus will spread it.

Re: March 12, 2020 (aka COVID-19 thread)

There are 34,826,510 little blue demons hiding in my basement. They can predict winning horse races, lottery numbers, and rainfall for Sidney, Australia, up to three months in advance. Sadly, they're not really talking to me, and they're invisible. Prove me wrong! Can I get some cannabis from you?

Re: More Stuff

Well, I'm employed again. I work at the same Nissan dealership I used to, several years ago, but now instead of working directly for the automotive group, I work for the vendor that takes care of the detail work. I'll have 6 hours on the clock, working on commission. Thankfully it isn't nearly as ba...

Re: March 12, 2020 (aka COVID-19 thread)

I say a few weeks because the incubation period can be as long as two weeks. Also, I had to wear a mask for the first time. Had to go take a drug test for a job with the detailing vendor that replaced all the detailers at the McLarty dealerships, and I'd be at the Nissan dealer I'd worked at before ...

Re: March 12, 2020 (aka COVID-19 thread)

Within the next few weeks, either we're gonna see a massive spike in cases of Covid-19, or we're gonna find that the lockdowns were all bullshit.

Re: March 12, 2020 (aka COVID-19 thread)

And no one is mentioning that many of the places being torched are within a stone's throw of where Wapsi Square is situated? Well... I mean... we all know, but the characters are also all safe (being fictional and all). In fact, I think the time skips have the Wapsiverse in the future, relative to ...

Re: March 12, 2020 (aka COVID-19 thread)

Yeah, thankfully I still have a few hundred rounds loaded in magazines for my rifles. One of them hasn't been zeroed just yet, but still, the noise that thing will make when fired will definitely let someone know I'd fired a round. Of course, given that I live in a heavily wooded area that is outsid...

Re: More Stuff

Yup. Even Arkansas is seeing a bit of of the craziness now, and we usually get very little. I heard a helicopter when I stepped outside a little while ago, but I'm also miles away from where everything is happening. I even had a falling out with a couple of relatives because they started spewing rac...

Re: More Stuff

Well, I was thinking I might call up the apprenticeship office on Monday to try to get into a program. If I can't get ahold of anyone there, I'll just give the other guy a call. Hopefully, if I do get it, it won't be as frustrating as when I was at Honda, with everyone trying to make sure I did more...

Re: More Stuff

I used to do that kind of work. Most of the detail work is cleaning up trades to put on the lot, though there's also the sold units. It's my understanding that this will be commission work, and one of the guys there has the same first name as me.

Re: More Stuff

I might end up with a job working in detail again, working for the folks who replaced us at the McLarty chain. Hopefully if I do end up working there, they don't try to make sure I do more than my fair share.

A guy taped a banana to a wall in a museum, and was paid six figures for that.

Don't even get me started on those paintings where someone just flings paint at a canvas, or where they paint a canvas one solid color and then put a frame on it.

Re: March 12, 2020 (aka COVID-19 thread)

I'm seeing people say that because areas that ended lockdowns saw a sudden spike in cases just a couple days later is proof that the lockdowns were working... except that the virus has a two week incubation period, meaning these people got it while the lockdowns were in effect.
