So much happiness, and doesn't it look like Katherine is dressed for some kind of action? I'd REALLY hate to get between her and the kids now, even a real mama bear would think twice: "um, sure, your kids can play with my cubs, no problem! Play date?" *sigh* Seeing them this happy makes me...

After what she's been through, Katherine has a right to do the "don't look back hero stride". In slow motion, yet. Atsali's a little unsure of herself, yet, and Castela doesn't know yet but trusts her big sister and new Mom.

So. Where. Is. ATSALI!? At the orphanage curled up with a favorite adventure book crying her eyes out and filled with teenage angst at being abandoned again. They never gave Kathy a chance to tell Sali she will not be thrown away by Kathy. Grownups are so unfair, and they just don't understand...

I'm with Katherine, nothing I hate worse than people behind desks that stare at you when you ask a question, as if you're an idiot causing trouble, hoping that you'll go away and stop making them think about their job any more than they do.
