Re: More Stuff

Beware that he's not in fact a supervillain, bent in destroying the world by making the English language incomprehensible... ... Well... More incomprehensible, anyway... :P   It would need to be a rather long-term plan, seeing as how I took her class a quarter century ago. I'd be more...

Re: More Stuff

Now that I've replied topically, here's what I came here to post: Talk about a tongue twister! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1edPxKqiptw I learned written English long before I learned spoken English. When I did finally get to hear spoken English, it was at a point in my life when I was traveling...

Re: More Stuff

And of course, it's even worse when the stuff getting all poofy are actual explosives! During WW 1, an ammunition ship in Halifax, Nova Scotia went kaboom - 3 Kiloton worth -- the largest non-nuclear explosion ever prior to nukes. On the "plus" side, due to all of the people ashore sitting and watc...

Re: More Stuff

Just plain ammonium nitrate (without an added hydrocarbon fuel) can explode, if sufficiently mistreated. If it's heated enough, it can decompose explosively... that's what happened in the Texas City disaster I was alluding to (a ship loaded with AN caught fire, burned hot enough to boil the water a...

Re: June 4th - Quick Update

Of course, we are discussing the daughter of the blackthorn, so how much of this applies is . . . questionable. Yeah, technically she probably doesn't even have any muscle, instead having some weird vine movement ability (which might work similar to muscle tissue, or not; turgor pressure, perhaps?)...

Re: More Stuff

Actually, there are a few shop vacs in the workshop, but I have yet to see if they work... A shop vac, with an outboard cyclone separator, would be a good approach (the separator will dump most of the sawdust into a separate container, keeping it from reaching and clogging the shop-vac filter). And...

Re: A Steal at $28K

That is, indeed, quite the offer. Only my lack of cash, and the fact that local roads, as well as road salt in the winter, would damage that car too quickly prevent me from seriously considering it. But I've always been fascinated by cars of that era. One in original configuration would be interest...

Re: In My Hair 2019-05-15

I am very much impressed with the quick thinking of those two in pushing Pickle out of the way and springing into action. Preventing the deployment of a WMD is always a good idea. How much do they know about Castela's power, though? Bud and Digit know, and Digit made a point of keeping Valerie out ...

Re: Long Distance 2019-05-01

I suspect that those spots on the Naked Twister pinups might not be plastic paste-on's, but might be ursine in nature... If that were the case, though, then who would be there to play the game after all the trouble of setting it up? Invite Skylar and Ruri to spin the dial? Unless the ursine spots a...

But Castela's sleeping bag was destroyed during the last club sleepover! Shawna's plan is flawed!! The romance between these two is doomed!!!

(Unless Castela bought a new one, but what are the chances of that?)

Re: Schtupid Email Scams

I've yet to receive any e-mail scams that I'm aware of, but today I had my first ever telephone scam! Yay! Now I feel like a true piece of society! I missed the initial part of the message because I let my voicemail answer, but apparently the IRS is going to charge me with. . .something, unless I ca...

Re: From The Archive 2019-04-22

Well, if the paranormals have a superior image-capture technology, they're unlikely to allow a mere human to learn enough about it to use it effectively. Eh, we've already seen plenty of humans (and people who were originally thought to be humans) who are fully aware of paranormalness going on arou...

Re: More Stuff

This is why Islam exists as a large scale religion. The Monophysite christians were abused by the Orthodox churge to the point that they pretty much migrated to Islam en-masse. That was almost all of the population of Egypt at the time. That's a large part of the reason why a small group of poorly-...

So why would it have to be a paranormal that took the photo? Katherine took photos of the rock paintings during her adventures with Atsali.
Who said that it had to be a paranormal?

Re: I've been enjoying Game of Thrones

I read the first three or four books, but the story got so monotonous to me that I lost interest and haven't bothered to keep up with the newer releases. I did check out the first disc of the first season of the television series from the local library, but haven't watched anything beyond that becau...

Yeah, Judas has provided some rather difficult problems in the history of theology, in regards to everything from predestination to the nature of Jesus' sacrifice. Which mainstream religious authorities generally resolved by simply ignoring the problems when possible, silencing dissenters, and refus...
