I love to see the tangents and the bunny trails that result from a post, and all the various fields of knowledge that come together on any given subject by the various forum-goers. Re: More Stuff

I was reading an article on PC Mag , about coming up with a strong master password for your password manager. The second suggestion on the page was about making it a passphrase. I was pleasantly surprised to see them reference the XKCD comic on that subject ( correct horse battery staple ). It then ...

Re: Last Day Of Junior Year 2023-01-07

Apparently, I got some details wrong... It was an unnamed cologne, not after-shave... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doppelg%C3%A4nger_(1969_film) (I was right about the movie being at least 40 years old, but it was definitely not made in French...) Here's the IMDB page for it . And I had completely ...

Re: Last Day Of Junior Year 2023-01-07

Now the question becomes was the sign printed on a transparent sheet that we can see the printing on the other side? I remember a movie in French (or, at least, I watched it in French), made at least some 40 years ago or so, where scientists discovered that there was a planet orbiting the sun, on t...

Re: Last Day Of Junior Year 2023-01-07

OK what is that sign behind them? It's either in Russian or some other Cyrillic alphabet language, or maybe it's a reflection of the sign for the Paranormal club (because of the ghost). I'm 99,9% sure it's the sign for the paranormal club, just mirrored because we're looking at it through the windo...

Just ran across these two quotes, in someone's signature on the Hammock Forums:
I've gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, make sure I stay here.
When I see lovers' names carved into a tree, I don't think it's cute. I think it's strange how so many people take knives on a date.

Re: More Stuff

In Montreal, a good number of bus shelters (small shelters at bus stops for people to take refuge in during inclement weather) have a built-in computer, so as to deliver multiple ads on the side of the shelter, instead of a static poster. This week, as I was waiting at a red light, I happened to gla...

Re: COMPUTER CRASH - new name - Fairportfan3

I had to suffer another 'mandatory update' for my HP laptop- currently I am getting MacAfee and Microsoft Edge 'notices' (standard blackmail attempts) regarding viruses and 'MacAfee about to expire'. They are popping up every 60 seconds with contradictory information. I tried MacAfee once before an...

My master password is an amalgam of initials of several words, plus a date whose significance I will not reveal... It is something for which no kind of hint will help... You'll get good results using your grandmother's shoe size, name of your first goldfish, and your dog's blood type. Nice going! N...

The one I use is Bitwarden . I highly recommend it. It works quite well, and is free of charge. I used to use LastPass, but ceased doing so when they decided that you needed to be on a paid tier in order to share it between devices (computer/tablet/phone). Bitwarden does not have any such restrictio...

Re: COMPUTER CRASH - new name - Fairportfan3

FWIW, I've got a loose leaf notebook with dividers to cover all the passworded sites I deal with. One page each site. So, I have a listing of the 2FA details as needed, e-mails, dates, and rolling list of the prior passwords for those sites that keep demanding updates every 90 days or something. So...
