Re: More Stuff

I learned written English long before I learned spoken English. When I did finally get to hear spoken English, it was at a point in my life when I was traveling constantly. So I ended up hearing a few English words spoken in one place, and then others spoken in a different place, and yet others in ...

Re: More Stuff

And of course, it's even worse when the stuff getting all poofy are actual explosives! During WW 1, an ammunition ship in Halifax, Nova Scotia went kaboom - 3 Kiloton worth -- the largest non-nuclear explosion ever prior to nukes. Hiroshima was 14 Kt, Nagasaki was 20 Kt by comparison. For the longe...

Re: More Stuff

Using a leaf-blower should be safe enough then, if you keep things well ventilated and don't let it catch on fire. Personally, I'd probably sweep/shovel up what I could first, then try to vacuum the remainder. That way you wouldn't have the dust going everywhere and have to potentially clean up eve...

Re: Watch NASA assembling the next Mars rover - live

Next up: live-streaming efforts to manipulate drops of asphalt into forming a new Mars rover, as a new form of 3D printing! The next step after that, is to have a Mars Rover turned into an asphalt street producing vehicle... No longer worrying about rugged terrain, just have it form its own street ...

Re: More Stuff

After reading the article about the hopper fire and the ensuing fireball caused by the sawdust, I ended up in the section of suggested (unrelated) reading, and found this:

Accessories for the paranoid

Which itself, referenced the original video describing the objects:

Re: A Steal at $28K

What i find interesting is that those are not restored cars. They're upgraded. Disc brakes, for example. They'd still be nice looking, but not as dangerous on the road :) Still... unless a whole bunch of stuff was upgraded, have fun finding parts when something goes wrong... I'd still love to have ...

Re: A Steal at $28K

That is, indeed, quite the offer.

Only my lack of cash, and the fact that local roads, as well as road salt in the winter, would damage that car too quickly prevent me from seriously considering it.

But I've always been fascinated by cars of that era.

Lots of divided highways in Texas. I grew up off of one of them. There's another north of Nashville heading for Kentucky. Amazing how with the enormous distance between the sides, an accident on one can STILL slow the other side down. Well, that would be because with the distance, people have to be...

Good news/Bad news time: The bad news is that the Orange Tree... is kaput. Had a landscaper come out and look at it, and he pointed out a distinct lack of new growth. It's all "suckers", which means the tree is really dead. It's going to get ground down to a stump by this weekend. So it's not just ...

That's also a rather old video clip.
That may be so, but it was still new to me, and just as shocking as if I had seen it when it was first posted. So there. :P

I just hope the driver is not still as careless as when this was first posted...
