Be sure to check Paul's Ebay/FB for another Phix sketch. Those with weak hearts may want to have 911 on speed dial.

Dropped by Museum of Fine Arts Houston recently to have a gander at Cloud Column by Anish Kapoor. He also created Cloud Gate, better known as "The Bean" in Chicago.

Re: Local Beer Gardens and Micro-Brews in General

Took Jasper to King's BierHaus in the Houston Shady Acres area (near the Heights) last Friday evening to see how she would do in that sort of environment. KBH has a great selection of imports on tap! I enjoyed a Franziskaner Hefeweizen and shared a pretzel with The J. She was a good girl, didn't eat...

Re: Who Would Win 2018-09-24

Needless to say, the people that _grew up_ here didn't give a crap about the history and wanted to keep the name. All the people who migrated here were desperate to force the school district to spend all the money on the renaming. Sometimes I wish we could just take everyone from California and pus...

Re: Who Would Win 2018-09-24

I think that's part of what keeps being forgotten, or trodden on in the desire for politically correctness. The 'Stars and Bars' weren't a sign of slavery. They were a sign of solidarity - just like the original 13 state flag, and the adding of stars as they went along. I believe that if a KKK memb...

Re: Who Would Win 2018-09-24

Whether you prefer War of Northern Aggression or Civil War, I have experienced both sides of the view. I will say that the Southern folks are a bit more emphatic on their name for the conflict. My European forebearers settled north of the Mason-Dixon line. One side showed up in the late 1600's in th...

Blast and damn. Paul seems to be the focus of the health-focused version of Monica's "winter hates me" anomaly-storm. Now, what's all this I hear about kidney scones? I know the English enjoy their scones, and consider kidney pie to be traditional, but putting the two together and making kidney sco...

Wasn't William Cannon the narrator with the "best" puns? Conrad got to make a lot of them, yes, since the "tune in next time" almost always had one built in. And, the narrator ended up as the designated stuckee for one really brilliant/horrid pun, which both Rocky and Bullwinkle said they were unwi...

What does Dylan or Hendrix have to do with a smoking railcar? I can't see the cargo being able to catch fire, or maybe the bearings on one of the trucks are going out?

Re: Anyone Want Some Grapefruit?

No, no... everybody misunderstands that point. The doctor was well aware that combining limes and coconuts is quicky and inevitably fatal. He knew he could do nothing to help and that, the next day, he would be invited to attend the wake for his (former) patient. He would have to put on his ritual ...

Saw the "Black Bikini" sketch earlier, made me think about my "stash" of Wapsi. This is the first piece that I received from Mr. Taylor. Darned if I can remember what year. Been a few.

I heard about it on the radio while driving to work this morning. It was donut day for the group, I stop every other Friday and pick up a couple dozen donuts. Engineers thrive on coffee and donuts. Plus it picks up moral if for just a moment, or as long as the sugar rush lasts. I also pick up a smal...

I'd called and talked to him in mid-December, right before the wife and I drove out to AZ the first time after I retired. Hoped to get a chance to see him, maybe on the second run through the town, but didn't stop in A-rillo that time. Damn damn damn. I'll echo that thought, I always figured the ne...

I just tried viewing one of the photos I had posted to show someone, noted that when clicking on the image, part of it is cut off. The sliders on side and bottom work if viewing in post. Guess it is a sizing thing? Will have to try posting one later. Always figured that better to have larger size pi...
