Have to disagree with the Starbucks comment, since it's not in Seattle.
Have to disagree with your disagreement. Seattle is irrelevant. You will be assimilated.

50 years of forest growth around anything will be drastically different. For example: the two trees in this Street VIew photo were saplings 50 years ago. (I should know.) Oh, Joe, you can't fool us. Only one of those is a tree. Google's automatic "anonymity and privacy" filter has blurred a small p...

If it weren't for the mess, need for reconstruction, and (possible) issues of blasphemy, they could probably resolve the problem temporarily by asking Cirque du Soleil to set up their Grand Chapiteau and do a gymnastics show in the cathedral.

Re: 3rd party Batteries for Older Laptops

I bought a Ninja battery recently for my several-years-old Dell laptop (which I had bought from Dell's refurbishment department).

The Ninja has been working fine for some weeks... no trouble noted. Not a long period of experience, but at least it didn't catch fire so far ;)

Though she was talking about the ley lines when she was looking at that screen, not the grid anchor points. Is there any relation between the two? Hmm. Looking at that picture I didn't see anything corresponding to the ley line she mentioned... and my recollection is that ley lines are believed to ...

I know that "generic engineering" was a typo because the r and t keys are adjacent, but that's still a pretty good accidental pun.

Besides Aunt Bud, nobody makes a good chaperone. Why? Is she holding the copyright to the chaperone-making plans? :? In that case, I wouldn't want to see what happens when someone tries to reverse engineer one of Bud's chaperones... "nobody" is the name of a limited-liability corporation in...

So, if in the end there nothing left of that part of Germany but a mass of charcoal... can we say that Bud made Black Forest caked? (Pickle is using her ancient Blackthorn wisdom in manipulative ways. This does not bode well for anyone's peace and quiet.) EDIT: I think this is the first time we've e...

This is a terrible tragedy. It sounds as if it could have been much worse... they got the people out and at least some of the cultural artifacts and artwork... but even so it's a horrible loss.

Interestingly enough, I've had to disapprove several posts. You'd think that the idiotic Russians would figure out that advertising _in Russian_ on English forums doesn't work. (or French, or German..) Those bot-generated spams have been arriving at the rate of about or two two per day for the past...

What I find odd, as well, is the fact that the "First" and "Last" navigational buttons no longer seem to have an image associated with them... The words "First" and "Last" still show up at the proper place, but there is no image (like the foot for "Comments" or the forward or backward facing monkey...

That billboard has been there for years. True... but the restaurant it refers to had actually burned down in a terrible grease-fryer explosion, almost as long ago. The billboard had been kept up by the owner of that particular Popeyes franchise, as a memorial to what she felt was an honorable compe...

"Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end."

But it's still damned good advice, although perhaps a bit anti-Scottish (it could keep these two from getting kilt).

Maybe there are more than one kind of phenomenon that gets interpreted as "ghosts"? Probably. The experience Atsali and Nadette had, when they went back to Mapimi, was pretty clearly of the "stone tape" variety, and it could easily have been interpreted as a haunting. This wouldn't tend to leave sn...

Ghosts with treats, or fairies trying to trap people in the Fae Realm? The ghostly-spirit version of the "weenie ladies" at Costco. They offer free samples, and hope you'll like them enough to wander down the haunted corridor to the castle freezer and take a 24-pack of frozen berry tarts home. She ...

I wonder if Castela may be missing a safety issue here. They're going to investigate a haunted castle. The one haunting they've investigated, at the school, was due to a malfunctioning World Grid anchor, and a serious bleed-through involving one or more alternate quantum realities (timelines). If th...
